Susan Slusser of the SF Chronicle believes Oakland GM Billy Beane may consider outfielder Bobby Abreu if his price tag drops.

Our View:The Rays and Cubs have already apparently passed on Abreu after inking Pat Burrell and Milton Bradley, and it is unlikely Abreu will receive the three-year, $48 million deal that he covets.
January 6, 2009
After being passed on by three teams, free-agent outfielder Bobby Abreu is now receiving "lukewarm interest at best" from the Atlanta Braves, reports ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick.

Our View:It's possible that the Cubs, Rays, and A's all shunned Abreu because he is demanding a three-year deal worth $48 million when it's evident his better days are behind him.
December 29, 2008
MLB.com reports that the Dodgers plan on opening talks with outfielder Bobby Abreu soon. They have also expressed interest in Adam Dunn.

Our View:The Dodgers currently have Andre Ethier, Matt Kemp, Andruw Jones, and Juan Pierre in their outfield, so adding another player would likely coincide with a trade. Many believe the Dodgers would still prefer to add a pitcher before a slugger.
December 27, 2008
The Oakland Athletics are exploring bringing in outfielder Bobby Abreu, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View:The A's need a bat either in front of or behind Matt Holliday, and with the lukewarm reception Abrue has received on the free-agent market thus far, he could be a relatively inexpensive signing.
December 24, 2008
The Angels do not plan on pursuing Bobby Abreu, according to the LA Times.

Our View:He was previously on the Angels' radar but GM Tony Reagins is pleased with the state of their outfield for 2009, especially after re-signing Juan Rivera. Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports recently predicted Abreu to land in Oakland.
