The Rockies list him as day-to-day, so we could see Helton back in the mix as soon as Thursday.

Manager Clint Hurdle did not elaborate on the severity or impetus for the illness or speculate when Helton would be able to return to the lineup. Obviously this is not something the club will take lightly; we'll see what we learn Wednesday. Jeff Baker started at first base Tuesday and went 1-for-4 with a run and RBI.

Although he could change his mind, Todd Helton has informed the Rockies that he is prepared to veto any trades in the future, according to the Denver Post. He initially appeared willing to waive his no-trade clause when the Rockies were discussing a deal with the Red Sox, but it looks like Helton will remain with the Rockies for the foreseeable future.

The Rockies announced on Monday night that trade talks with the Red Sox about Todd Helton have ended, according to the AP. "This is not a trade that we were anxious to complete, but we are always exploring ways to improve our team," Rockies owner Charlie Monfort said in a statement. "Discussions like these regarding a player of Todd's talent and character are never easy, and it's not surprising we were not able to reach an agreement." The proposed deal was thought to include Mike Lowell and Julian Tavarez, but the Rockies also wanted pitching prospects in return, something Boston apparently wasn't willing to give up.

Todd Helton claims he has finally has regained the weight he lost while hospitalized with intestinal problems early last season, the Rocky Mountain News reports. He's also been doing a lot of work with a personal trainer.
