The Brewers have reached a minor league deal with outfielder Trot Nixon with an invitation to spring training, according to MLB.com.

Our View:The 34-year-old is a career .274 hitter and has an outside chance of making the big league club coming out of spring training. He hit just .171 in 35 at-bats last season with the Mets.

Trot Nixon is starting in right field in Game 1 of the double-dip between the Mets and Yankees at Shea Stadium. Nixon is hitting sixth in the batting order against Yankee starter Dan Giese.

Our View:Nixon is hitting .148 in 27 at-bats for the Mets.

Recently acquired outfielder Trot Nixon is in the starting lineup for the Mets today, playing right field and hitting sixth.

Our View:Nixon was hitting .309/.437/.558 with 10 home run for Triple-A Tucson. Endy Chavez and Marlon Anderson will lose at-bats now that Nixon has joined the 25-man roster.

The Mets bolstered their outfield on Friday night by acquiring Trot Nixon from the Arizona Diamondbacks. Arizona gets cash or a player to be named in the deal.

Our View:Nixon was tearing it up at Triple-A Tuscon hitting .309 with 10 homers and 31 RBI in 58 games. With Moises Alou and Ryan Church on the disabled list, Nixon could find at-bats in right field for the Mets, and soon.

Trot Nixon has accepted an assignment to Triple-A Tucson, according to MLB.com. Nixon will play left field, first base and serve as the DH while at Tucson. "I want to play," Nixon said. "I have another opportunity for an opt-out in the middle of the season, but I'm not focused on that. My focus is on staying healthy and performing on the field." Nixon lost out on a bench job to Alex Romero. He won't have any fantasy value this year.

The Arizona Diamondbacks signed Trot Nixon on Thursday, according to ESPN.com. The agreement includes a minor league contract with an invitation to Spring Training. The talent-rich outfield of the Diamondback doesn't need Nixon, but the team wanted insurance on the corner of the infield with Chad Tracy still rehabbing a knee.

The D'Backs have an interest in free agent Trot Nixon, but GM Josh Byrnes has made it clear that any deal they struck with Nixon would be of the non-guaranteed, minor-league variety. "Trot knows the landscape," Byrnes said in the Arizona Republic. "We don't want to misrepresent it for him or any of our players already." Arizona was one of four teams that watched Nixon work out Sunday. If Trot catches on with the Snakes, his chances at making the team could hinge upon Chad Tracy's health.

Trot Nixon might find himself wearing a Diamondbacks jersey this season according to a report in the East Valley Tribune. Nixon worked out at the team's minor league facility on Sunday and according to GM Josh Byrnes "he looked good." Though this all sounds good, the team will wait until it gets a better handle on the health of Chad Tracy before the bring in any veteran bat, including Nixon, though after hitting .251 with three HR it is far from certain that Nixon could bring much even if signed.
