Jermaine Dye left Tuesday's game after the fourth inning because of a strained left quadriceps. The outfielder is considered day-to-day. "We'll see tomorrow," Dye said in the AP. "It will probably be a couple of days."

Jermaine Dye was scheduled to test out his strained right quadriceps on Friday. However, the workout was postponed until Saturday due to slippery conditions, according to the Chicago Tribune. "Hopefully, [the injury] doesn't take 15 days [to heal]," Dye said. It's anyone's guess when he'll play again. If all goes well Saturday, he could be back in the mix within a day or two. If not, he could end on the disabled list.

Dye has been taking batting practice, but hasn't resumed running full speed. "I haven't run the bases seriously yet," Dye said. "The issue is running." When asked if he thought he could play Friday, Dye said, "No." Manager Ozzie Guillen said he will talk with GM Ken Williams about the situation before the White Sox open a three-game series Friday at Kansas City.

Jermaine Dye is one of the team's high-profile free-agents-to-be, along with Tadahito Iguchi and Mark Buehrle. General Manager Ken Williams feels confident he can retain his core group of talent, even if the discussions don't resume until the off-season. "We have such a good relationship with all these guys," Williams said Tuesday. "When it's all said and done, they'll give us a chance to match what's on the open market because they want to stay."
