Mychael Urban of Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area noted that the Giants are not interested in Jermaine Dye.

Our View:Urban also believes Fred Lewis will be cut by San Francisco near the end of camp. Dye rejected a $2MM offer from an undisclosed team, and the Giants wouldn't give him anything more than that.

Jermaine Dye is very surprised that he remains unsigned after the start of spring training, according to the Associated Press. Dye said, "Teams want me as a backup player, and that ss something I am not ready to do. I feel undervalued, basically. I do not think I have to go out there and prove anything to anyone. My numbers the last five or six years show I can help someone."

Our View:Dye could still be a quality outfielder, but his .179 batting average over the second-half of last season may be scaring teams away. The 36-year-old vet also shot down rumors circulating that he was considering hanging up his cleats.

Jermaine Dye has told recent retiree Frank Thomas that he too is considering retirement, according to Comcast SportsNet's Chuck Garfien.

Our View:Take this news with a grain of salt. Dye is probably just frustrated by the lack of interest he's received this offseason, though he's still fully expected to find a suitor eventually once his price tag comes down.

Jermaine Dye very much still intends to play in 2010 despite his current lukewarm market, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

Our View:Dye, who has hit more home runs over the past five seasons than any American League outfielder, is miffed, however, as to why players like Xavier Nady are getting better offers than he has received. Willing to play right field, left field or first base, and coming off of a season in which he hit 27 home runs to go along with 81 RBI, expect someone to take a "flier" on him soon.

Jermaine Dye reiterated on Wednesday that he is willing to play first base in 2010, according to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated.

Our View:With Spring Training nearly here, expect someone to take a flier on the veteran power hitter fairly soon. He could be a nice surprise in 2010, and should not be written off as of yet in any format.

The Indians are "keeping an eye on" free agent outfielder Jermaine Dye, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View:They are seeking a veteran, right-handed bat, a description that would obviously be very apt for Dye. While he is no longer a plus defensive outfielder, he could see some time at first were he to land in Cleveland. Stay tuned.

The Blue Jays, Royals, Indians and Tigers are all possible destinations for free agent outfielder Jermaine Dye, according to Fox Sports.

Our View:Jon Paul Morosi believes the 36 year old will end up with an American League team. While his defense has deteriorated these past few seasons, he could still serve as a competent outfielder or first baseman. Stay tuned.

Jermaine Dye apparently turned down a one-year, $3.3 million offer from the Cubs this week, according to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick.

Our View:That's the same deal that Xavier Nady eventually signed for. Given that he's 35 and a defensive liability, Dye is highly unlikely to get much more than that from anyone else.

Jermaine Dye could end up with the Padres for 2010, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:This would seem to be a bad move for Dye, who at age 35, probably shouldn't be moving from one of the most hitter-friendly stadiums in baseball to one of the least. If they are offering the most money, however, that's probably just what he will do.

The Cubs are the latest team to have shown interest in Jermaine Dye, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:On one hand, it'd certainly be convenient for Dye to stick in the Windy City and not have to move, but on the other, the Cubs can't guarantee Dye an everyday starting gig. Still, with Alfonso Soriano's history of injuries, the Cubs could be willing to dole out a decent amount of money for Dye, so we'll have to wait and see how this one plays out.

The Padres have shown interest in Jermaine Dye, according to Fox Sports.

Our View:While his bat would be a nice addition to their lineup, they'd probably need to trade someone else - possibly either Kevin Kouzmanoff or Heath Bell - to afford Dye. Dye will likely continue to wait things out until he gets an offer that fits.

The Rangers are reportedly still making a run at Jermaine Dye, according to Evan P. Grant's (Dallas Morning News) twitter page.

Our View:Team officials met with the veteran outfielder in Los Angeles this week. Texas could let Dye go if they can reach a deal with Vladimir Guerrero though.
