Mychael Urban of Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area noted that the Giants are not interested in Jermaine Dye.

Our View:Urban also believes Fred Lewis will be cut by San Francisco near the end of camp. Dye rejected a $2MM offer from an undisclosed team, and the Giants wouldn't give him anything more than that.

Jermaine Dye is very surprised that he remains unsigned after the start of spring training, according to the Associated Press. Dye said, "Teams want me as a backup player, and that ss something I am not ready to do. I feel undervalued, basically. I do not think I have to go out there and prove anything to anyone. My numbers the last five or six years show I can help someone."

Our View:Dye could still be a quality outfielder, but his .179 batting average over the second-half of last season may be scaring teams away. The 36-year-old vet also shot down rumors circulating that he was considering hanging up his cleats.
February 12, 2010
Jermaine Dye has told recent retiree Frank Thomas that he too is considering retirement, according to Comcast SportsNet's Chuck Garfien.

Our View:Take this news with a grain of salt. Dye is probably just frustrated by the lack of interest he's received this offseason, though he's still fully expected to find a suitor eventually once his price tag comes down.
February 11, 2010
Jermaine Dye very much still intends to play in 2010 despite his current lukewarm market, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

Our View:Dye, who has hit more home runs over the past five seasons than any American League outfielder, is miffed, however, as to why players like Xavier Nady are getting better offers than he has received. Willing to play right field, left field or first base, and coming off of a season in which he hit 27 home runs to go along with 81 RBI, expect someone to take a "flier" on him soon.
February 10, 2010
Jermaine Dye reiterated on Wednesday that he is willing to play first base in 2010, according to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated.

Our View:With Spring Training nearly here, expect someone to take a flier on the veteran power hitter fairly soon. He could be a nice surprise in 2010, and should not be written off as of yet in any format.
