Our View:The Yankees have taken the rather curious approach of not extending their captain's deal until it runs out, but he doesn't sound insulted - yet. He may start thinking differently if he has an off 2010 season and the Yankees dictate he takes a pay cut, however. |

February 10, 2010 Joel Sherman of the New York Post thinks the Yankees and Derek Jeter will ultimately agree to a four-year contract extension in the neighborhood of $100 million. Our View:Sherman believes Jeter's superb defensive season in 2009 has put the Yankees in a tough position, and if he comes close to repeating it in 2010, they will have no choice but to shell out whatever he wants.
