Our View:The Detroit Tigers were the only other team required to pay a luxury tax. Their tab was a bit smaller at just $1.3 million. However, like the Yankees, the Tigers also missed the postseason. |

"What if the Yankees finish the season with more wins than the Dodgers, but the Dodgers make the playoffs? Does that make the Dodgers a better team? No," Steinbrenner said.
