Report: Stricker improbable for Match Play 02-10-2014
Steve Stricker
Due to the health of his brother, Steve Stricker is considered doubtful for next week's World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship, according to Golf Channel's Tim Rosaforte.

Stricker's older brother, Scott, 50, is in need of a liver transplant. The surgery was scheduled this past weekend but it didn't happen. Scott has been in intensive care for three weeks. "My plans next week are up in the air," Steve said. "I haven't pulled out, but it's not looking so good. ... I'm an optimistic person, so I feel like something really good is going to happen." Steve is 12th in the Official World Golf Ranking. He hasn't competed in an official event since the TOUR Championship in September. As for his schedule after the Match Play, he's circled the WGC-Cadillac Championship, Shell Houston Open and Masters in the coming weeks.
Matteson now first alternate at Riviera CC 02-10-2014
Troy Matteson
Troy Matteson has been bumped to first alternate for this week's Northern Trust Open.

Chesson Hadley was the last man in field at the commitment deadline on Friday afternoon, and then tied for 10th at Pebble Beach. Matteson was third-to-last to gain entry, but with two other PGA TOUR members previously ineligible on merit cracking the top 10 at the AT&T, Matteson gets the shove. He hasn't cashed in five consecutive starts, but that's classic form. He usually finds a spark and keeps it lit long enough to retain fully exempt status, indicative of his spurt during the Web.com Tour Finals. That said, it makes him a terrible fantasy own in short-term formats.
Hurley III bumped to second alternate at NTO 02-10-2014
Billy Hurley
Billy Hurley III has been pushed to second alternate at this week's Northern Trust Open.

With three PGA TOUR member cracking the top 10 at Pebble Beach on Sunday while he attended the birth of his first child last Friday, Hurley III was at risk for getting squeezed. He's not scheduled to compete in the open qualifier, so he may be staring at another two weeks off if the field doesn't come back to him. He will not qualify for next week's World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship. The good news is that he's currently 101st in FedExCup points, so he must have some sense of security as it relates to the long-term.
Swafford gets sponsor exemption into the NTO 02-10-2014
Hudson Swafford
Hudson Swafford has been added to the published field of this week's Northern Trust Open.

The PGA TOUR rookie received the last sponsor exemption into the field of 144. Without it, he'd have sat outside the top-15 alternates. His first appearance at Riviera comes on the heels of an 0-for-2 slide after a pair of top 25s to begin the new year.
Wilkinson secures his third trip to Riviera 02-10-2014
Tim Wilkinson
Tim Wilkinson has been added to the published field of this week's Northern Trust Open.

The Kiwi earned the tee time at Riviera on Thursday for finishing inside the top 10 at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. His T7 on Sunday was the second top 10 of the season. He's 1-for-3 at Riviera Country Club with a T20 in 2010.
Renner accepts exemption into Northern Trust 02-10-2014
Jim Renner
Jim Renner has been added to the published field of this week's Northern Trust Open.

He opened the door for the berth with a T2 at Pebble Beach on Sunday. The top-10 exemption elevates his status for the week. Without the top-10 exemption, he'd have been outside the top 30 alternates. This will mark his debut at Riviera Country Club.
