Disciplined Rocha playing Utah Championship 07-09-2013
Alexandre Rocha
Alexandre Rocha will tee it up in the Utah Championship this week.

Rocha is demonstrating quite a bit of discipline this week. With partial status on the PGA TOUR, he could have gotten into the field at the John Deere Classic, but has instead opted to chase his full status on the 2013-14 PGA TOUR via the Web.com Tour. He currently ranks 21st on the Web.com Tour money list, and the top 25 at year's end will receive their PGA TOUR cards. It's not unusual to hear a golfer comment that they will pass up on PGA TOUR opportunities to try and qualify this way, but often times they succumb to the lure of an instant gratification. We will have to wait and see how this plays out for him.
Stricker will get plenty of play at the JDC 07-09-2013
Steve Stricker
Steve Stricker returns to the site of three PGA TOUR victories to play the John Deere Classic.

Many fans and media members joke that this event is the Steve Stricker Invitational, and with good reason. He won each of the three outings at TPC Deere run from 2009-2011, then shared fifth in 2012. Many gamers have saved their one-and-done play for him specifically for this event. He tied for eighth at the U.S. Open in his most recent start three weeks ago. Despite his light schedule, he's continued to answer the bell. Playing against him in any format this week is at your own risk.
Streelman's history meets poor form at JDC 07-09-2013
Kevin Streelman
Kevin Streelman has twice finished eighth at the John Deere Classic and is back for a run in this year's edition.

Form is the current question for Streelman. After an incredible run of three consecutive top-six finishes in late April and early May, he has cooled to miss his last four cuts. It's hard to pinpoint why this has happened without a leap of speculation, and it is equally hard to trust that this will be the week he breaks out of his slump.
English makes first stop @ John Deere Classic 07-09-2013
Harris English
Harris English makes his first appearance in the John Deere Classic this week.

The FedEx St. Jude Classic winner has experienced a mild fade since his win, finishing T43 at the Travelers Championship and T34 at AT&T National in his only other action since. At 21st in par breakers and 33rd in strokes gained-putting, he has the fire power to contend at TPC Deere Run.
Ishikawa not a lock for 2013-14 PGA TOUR card 07-09-2013
Ryo Ishikawa
Ryo Ishikawa will tee it up in his first John Deere Classic this week.

Ishikawa managed to retain his PGA TOUR card in his rookie season of 2012, but that feat looks in serious jeopardy this time around. He currently ranks 156th in the FedExCup rankings with back-to-back missed cuts ushering him into TPC Deere Run. At 119th in ball-striking and 175th in strokes gained-putting, you can pick your poison in terms of what's holding him back.
Gay hopes to find form at John Deere Classic 07-09-2013
Brian Gay
Brian Gay has enjoyed his share of success at the John Deere Classic over the years.

Gay had a nice run from 2007 through 2011 at TPC Deere Run, playing in three events and finishing inside the top 20 in all of them. Since his win earlier this year at the Humana Challenge, he still only has one other top-25 finish. That was a T24 at the Waste Management Phoenix Open in his very next start.
Hahn dreaming of West Coast at TPC Deere Run 07-09-2013
James Hahn
James Hahn will try and tame TPC Deere Run for the first time at this week's John Deere Classic.

The rookie has continued to be spotty since a nice West Coast Swing early in the year. His most recent finish was a T41 at The Greenbrier Classic last week, but that was needed to stop a skid of four missed cuts. At 88th in the FedExCup standings, his 2013-14 TOUR card appears safe.
Bolli enters John Deere off 66 at Greenbrier 07-09-2013
Justin Bolli
Justin Bolli takes on TPC Deere Run for the fourth time at the John Deere Classic.

Bolli tied for 20th here in 2005, but missed the cut in 2008 and 2010. His 2013 season has been equally hit-or-miss. He's made just five cuts, but twice finished fourth. Since his solo fourth at the HP Byron Nelson, he's gone on a slide and missed his last six cuts. He did close out The Greenbrier Classic with a second-round 4-under-par 66, so perhaps he found something at The Old White TPC.
Mayfair's Playoff chances bleak ahead of JDC 07-09-2013
Billy Mayfair
Billy Mayfair limps into Silvis, Illinois for the John Deere Classic.

Mayfair has secured just two paychecks in 2013 and ranks 206th in the FedExCup standings. He must move inside the top 200 just to earn a spot in the four-tournament series to decide the final 25 TOUR cards for 2013-14. At this point, at top 125 finish seems a long shot at best.
Bohn needs a FedExCup push at TPC Deere Run 07-09-2013
Jason Bohn
Jason Bohn makes his eighth appearance at the John Deere Classic this week.

Bohn has seen the weekend on five of his previous seven outings at TPC Deere Run, with a T14 in his first trip still standing as the best. He enters the week 151st in the FedExCup standings, needing to make a move inside the top 125 if he is to secure a 2013-14 PGA TOUR card and a spot in the field at The Barclays.
