Dufner chases first top 10 in HPBNC defense 05-14-2013
Jason Dufner
Jason Dufner will defend his title at the HP Byron Nelson Championship this week.

PGATOUR.com
It's been a rough ride for Dufner in 2013, still in search of his first top 10. His win in 2012 was not without trend, as he shared eighth in 2012. We do have a little past history in the books when it comes to his defense of titles, as he shared 42nd in New Orleans three weeks ago. While he's a steady play in several formats, he's probably not one-and-done material quite yet.
Gay a past runner-up at the HP Byron Nelson 05-14-2013
Brian Gay
Brian Gay will compete in his 14th HP Byron Nelson Championship this week.

PGATOUR.com
Gay's best finish in this event was a T2 in 2010, trailing only Jason Day. His win at the Humana Challenge in January remains his only top 10 of 2013. While it's certainly possible that he contends this week, the odds are slightly stacked against him.
Huh makes second stop at HP Byron Nelson 05-14-2013
John Huh
John Huh will tee it up for the second time at the HP Byron Nelson Championship.

PGATOUR.com
Huh got one round in the books at the 2012 edition, but withdrew without posting a second score. The first round was an even-par 70, so it seems TPC Four Seasons could be a fit for his accurate game. His T11 at the Masters stands as his best finish of the seaons. Not a bad place to excel, either.
Slocum chasing status at TPC Four Seasons 05-14-2013
Heath Slocum
Heath Slocum picked up a start in this week's HP Byron Nelson Championship.

PGATOUR.com
Playing with conditional status, Slocum is one of several players that had to choose between a start on the PGA TOUR or Web.com Tour this week. Given he ranks 182nd in the FedExCup standings and the top 200 earn a spot on the four-tournament quest for a 2013-2014 TOUR card, it's likely that his decision to try and pick up more points in Texas is the right call. He's only made two of seven cuts here, but both went for top 20s.
Wi breaks cut streak; ready for Byron Nelson 05-14-2013
Charlie Wi
Charlie Wi is in the field at TPC Four Seasons for the HP Byron Nelson Championship.

PGATOUR.com
Wi snapped a streak of four missed cuts in 2013 with a T55 at TPC Sawgrass last week. This is his seventh attempt to capture this title, with a T7 in 2008 his closest call. His ball-striking numbers are predictably bad, with his 44th strokes gained-putting ranking par for the course.
Petrovic to make 11th HP Byron Nelson start 05-14-2013
Tim Petrovic
Tim Petrovic makes his fifth start of the season at the HP Byron Nelson Championship.

PGATOUR.com
It's only the fifth start of the season for Petrovic, playing with conditional status. His only paycheck came at the Puerto Rico Open, sharing 50th. If there is any hope for him this week, it is that he owns three top 20s in past voyages to TPC Four Seasons.
Fritsch ready for first go @ TPC Four Seasons 05-14-2013
Brad Fritsch
Brad Fritsch's rookie season continues at this week's HP Byron Nelson Championship.

PGATOUR.com
Fritsch has secured a solid 10 (of 14) paydays in 2013, with a T9 at the Farmers Insurance Open standing as his lone top 25. He's only broken 70 once in his last five tournaments, so his inability to go low should deter gamers from considering him in Yahoo! formats. He enters the week 30th in all-around ranking.
Quinney nabs sponsor invite to Byron Nelson 05-14-2013
Jeff Quinney
Jeff Quinney will make his first start in the HP Byron Nelson since 2011.

PGATOUR.com
Quinney no longer enjoys status on the PGA TOUR, but his loyalty to this event likely played a part in his inclusion into the field. He played in every edition from 2007-2011, twice making the cut but never cracking a top 30. Given his weak history and lack of seasoning on TOUR in 2013, there is no reason to consider him in any fantasy format.
Williams to make 13th start of 2013 at Nelson 05-14-2013
Lee Williams
Lee Williams has made half of his 12 cuts ahead of his maiden voyage to the HP Byron Nelson Championship.

PGATOUR.com
Williams is still in search of his first top-35 finish in his rookie season, with a T37 at the Humana Challenge his best effort. He is trending upward, making the cut in his last three starts culminating with a T43 at the Wells Fargo Championship two weeks ago. While this week's field isn't the strongest, there still isn't enough of a reason to buy to much stock in him at TPC Four Seasons.
Green picks up a start at the HP Byron Nelson 05-14-2013
Nathan Green
Nathan Green will tee it up this week at the HP Byron Nelson Championship.

PGATOUR.com
The Aussie's starts have been tough to come by in 2013, playing with only past champion status. Fortunately, he received a sponsor exemption into the field at TPC Four Seasons Resort. It's well deserved, as he's never missed this event since 2006 and only missed the cut one time. He's still looking for his first top 25 in this event, so don't invest too heavily.
Louis Oosthuizen may not play the U.S. Open 05-14-2013
Louis Oosthuizen
Louis Oosthuizen announced today in his presser at the HP Byron Nelson Championship that he may not compete in the U.S. Open on June 13-16 because his wife is scheduled to delivered the couple's third child that week.

PGATOUR.com
"At the moment, the U.S. Open is going to be a miss for me because the baby is due then," Oosthuizen said, referring to the due date of June 15. He added that he would tee it up at Merion if the baby arrives the previous week. For now, he'll enjoy a four-event stretch in as many weeks ending at the Memorial at the end of this month. He missed the cut in his debut at the HP Byron Nelson Championship last year.
Faldo to compete in The Open Championship 05-14-2013
Nick Faldo
Nick Faldo is planning to tee it up at The Open Championship on July 18-21.

GolfChannel.com
Faldo will turn 56 years of age the same day as the opening round. He hasn't played a PGA TOUR event since missing the cut at St. Andrews in 2010. He hasn't survived a cut in 2006, and he's just 2-for-2 on the Champions Tour, electing to devote his time to other ventures including his broadcasting. "I've been fighting it for years," he told CNN. "I was in the gym (last) Monday, and it suddenly just hit me. I thought, `Come on, this is one more walk,' and I'll probably never get a chance to walk at Muirfield."
Waldorf slides into play at TPC Four Seasons 05-14-2013
Duffy Waldorf
Duffy Waldorf has been added to the published field of this week's HP Byron Nelson Championship.

PGATOUR.com
Waldorf started the week as the sixth alternate. He gained entry when Dustin Johnson withdrew. Waldorf has played all three circuits run by the PGA TOUR this season, and he's cashed in at least one start in each. He shared 41st place at last year's stop in Irving, Tex.
Dustin Johnson WDs from the HP Byron Nelson 05-14-2013
Dustin Johnson
Dustin Johnson has been removed from the published field of this week's HP Byron Nelson Championship. Sigh. It seems that it's no longer a matter of if, but when. He called it quits before his second round at TPC Sawgrass last week due to an injury in his lower back, and that trailed an early WD at Quail Hollow due to an irritated left wrist.
Durant gets chance to repeat success in Texas 05-14-2013
Joe Durant
Joe Durant has been added to the published field of this week's HP Byron Nelson Championship.

PGATOUR.com
Durant started the week as the fourth alternate, but gained entry when Bob Estes withdrew. Durant's only top 10 since 2011 was a T3 at last year's HPBNC when he closed with a pair of 65s. He's 1-for-3 this season on Past Champion status with a T37 in San Antonio.
Estes (illness) withdraws from Byron Nelson 05-14-2013
Bob Estes
Bob Estes has been removed from the published field of this week's HP Byron Nelson Championship.

PGATOUR.com
Estes intimated that this was imminent in a response to a follower on Twitter on Monday night. When asked if he was playing, he wrote: "Still sick. About to WD from the Nelson. Hoping to play the Open Champ. qualifier Monday & Colonial." He had pulled out of THE PLAYERS at the last minute due to his health. The veteran has a suspect record at TPC Four Seasons anyway, so gamers won't miss him.
Janzen to make his 13th appearance at the HP 05-14-2013
Lee Janzen
Lee Janzen has been added to the published field of this week's HP Byron Nelson Championship.

PGATOUR.com
Janzen started the week as the third alternate. He gained entry this morning when Jonas Blixt withdrew. The veteran is 2-for-6 on Past Champion status this season, but hasn't cracked a top 60. His last top-65 finish at the Nelson was back in 2003 (T14) when Cottonwood Valley was still co-hosting. He's competed in 12 previous editions dating back to 1990.
Blixt takes a pass on the HP Byron Nelson 05-14-2013
Jonas Blixt has been removed from the published field of this week's HP Byron Nelson Championship.

PGATOUR.com
Blixt finished last among the 77 that completed 72 holes at last week's PLAYERS, his fourth straight event. He's exempt into the next two tournaments, so it's possible that he wants a break. He's 153rd in FedExCup points, but course history buffs may have wanted to lean on last year's T3 at TPC Four Seasons. That strategy will have to be tabled for at least another year.
Retief Goosen remains committed to BMW PGA 05-14-2013
Retief Goosen
Retief Goosen is listed in the preliminary field of next week's BMW PGA Championship.

EuropeanTour.com
Goosen couldn't complete his opening round at TPC Sawgrass last week due to a back injury. He withdrew early from the Wells Fargo the week prior for the same reason. He's fully exempt on the PGA TOUR and sits 128th in FedExCup points, but his owners won't be able to wait long for a recovery. Keep him on a very short leash.
