While he didn't play in the 2001 trip to Royal Lytham and St. Annes, he did manage to finish 45th in 1996. In Hamilton's seven attempts to claim the Claret Jug for a second time after his win, he has managed to cash just twice and has not cracked the top 30. |

For a world-class player, his history in this event is less than impressive. While he did finish fifth in 2005 at St. Andrews, that counts as one of his two made cuts in nine attempts. He's made 12 (of 14) cuts on the PGA TOUR this season with six top 25s, but has yet to nab a top 10. |

He opened up the year with a win at the Humana Challenge, but that stands as his only top 15 in a stroke-play event. In fact, he hasn't cracked a top 25 since his T24 at the RBC Heritage in April. He made his first appearance in this event in 2011, where he finished 63rd. |

Lehman should feel right at home at Royal Lytham and St. Annes, and with length not expected to be at a premium he could find himself contending once more. Now focusing his attention on the Champions Tour, he teed it up with the young guns once this year and posted a T16 at Mayakoba. |

Stanley finished 44th in the 2011 edition. While his 2012 season stalled not long after his win at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, he has recently shown a return to form. He has made the cut in each of his three starts since the U.S. Open, including a T60 at the Travelers, T22 at AT&T National and T19 at the John Deere Classic. If this week is to be decided by ball-striking, as some have suggested, he's got that covered. He ranks ninth on the PGA TOUR in that category. |

Calc won the 1989 edition at Troon, and has not missed the tournament since. While he's made the cut in each of his previous trips to Royal Lytham and St. Annes, he has done no better than 41st in 2001. |

The Spaniard has been a regular on leaderboards in this event, making the cut in 12 of 15 attempts with seven top 10s. He competed at this venue in 1996, where he missed the cut as an amateur, and returned in 2001 to finish ninth. He has yet to miss a cut in a PGA TOUR sanctioned event. |

The Northern Irishman won the Amateur Championship in 2001 and competed in the British Open the same year. Links golf seems to suit him, as he won the 2011 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St. Andrews, with Carnoustie and Kingsbarnes in the rotation for the early rounds. In 2012, he hoisted the trophy at the Trophee Hassan II. |

While he's competed in 142 PGA TOUR events, his victory at the 2006 Texas Open still accounts for over 26 percent of his career earnings. He missed the cut in San Antonio in his only previous appearance this season. Axley shot a 68 in the open qualifier on Monday, three strokes too high to force a playoff for the final of four berths. |

His only top 25 in a stroke-play event was in his native South Korea, and he's slipped all the way to 79th in the world ranking. |
