Rolando McClain meeting with Newsome Fri. 04-03-2014
Rolando McClain MLB DAL
Retired ILB Rolando McClain will meet with Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome on Friday.

Carroll County Times
McClain is meeting with Newsome to "discuss a possible future" in Baltimore, but it's possible he'll be granted his release. The Ravens still own McClain's rights following his abrupt 2013 "retirement." "I'm excited about the game again," McClain said. "I'm excited to play. I'm excited to be around some damn teammates." McClain was a major bust before hanging up his cleats, but is still only 24 years old. He should at least be able to crack someone's offseason roster, perhaps even Baltimore's.
Chris Johnson meeting with GM on Friday 04-03-2014
Chris Johnson RB ARZ
Chris Johnson will meet with Titans GM Ruston Webster on Friday.

Jim Wyatt on Twitter
It's likely the meeting will result in Johnson's release. Currently due $8 million in 2014, Johnson would be extremely lucky to get even half that on the open market. It's a frigid environment for free-agent backs, even ones with 2,000-yard seasons to their name.
Morris Claiborne expects to be ready for OTAs 04-03-2014
Morris Claiborne CB DAL
Cowboys CB Morris Claiborne (shoulder surgery) expects to be ready for OTAs.

Dallas Morning News
"I'm feeling great," Claiborne said. "I feel like my mind is getting stronger as well as my body. Just rehabbing every day and trying to get stronger. I'll be ready for when we start up our workouts and on to OTAs and minicamp." Coming off two lost seasons, the No. 6 overall pick of the 2012 draft will be under the microscope as Big D's defense attempts to bounce back from its disastrous 2013.
Report: CJ?K could be released by Friday 04-03-2014
Chris Johnson RB ARZ
According to's Ian Rapoport, Chris Johnson could be released as early as Friday.

Chris Wesseling on Twitter
Rapoport reported something similar on Wednesday. Rapsheet maintains it would be "surprising" if CJ?K isn't handed his walking papers by the time the Titans begin offseason workouts on Monday. All sides agree it's a matter of when, not if, Johnson is let go.
Coughlin 'counting on' David Wilson for '14 04-03-2014
David Wilson RB NYG
Speaking Thursday, Giants coach Tom Coughlin confirmed he's "counting on" David Wilson (neck surgery) for 2014.

Ralph Vacchiano on Twitter
Coughlin stopped short of guaranteeing Wilson would be ready for the season, however. "All in due time with David," Coughlin said. "'m counting on him, but I am not going to put him in any circumstance until it's an absolute that he's 100 percent." The G-Men are cautiously optimistic about Wilson's status, but aren't planning on him being their feature back. Rashad Jennings is in the driver's seat for No. 1 duties, with Wilson trending toward a change-of-pace role if he can gain clearance.
Ravens snag Owen Daniels with one-year deal 04-03-2014
Owen Daniels TE DEN
Ravens agreed to terms with TE Owen Daniels, formerly of the Texans, on a one-year contract.

John McClain on Twitter
Daniels is reuniting with Ravens OC Gary Kubiak, who was his head coach his entire Texans career. Going on 32, Daniels has been in slow decline, but should be an excellent complement to Dennis Pitta in the middle of the field. Kubiak loves two-tight end sets, and Daniels has caught at least 54 passes in each of his past five healthy seasons. A broken leg limited him to just five games and 24 grabs in 2013, but he's now 100 percent. Daniels' days as a fantasy TE1 are long gone, but he'll be a reliable pair of hands for a team that lacked them last season. In theory, Daniels' history with Kubiak is a concern for Pitta, but Pitta will unquestionably open the year as the Ravens' starter.
S Rafael Bush signs offer sheet with Falcons 04-03-2014
Rafael Bush FS DET
Restricted free agent S Rafael Bush signed an offer sheet with the Falcons.

Larry Holder on Twitter
The Saints have until April 8 to match. A former undrafted free agent, Bush was tendered at the original-round level. That means the Saints won't be entitled to draft-pick compensation if they decline to match. Bush was the Saints' No. 3/4 safety in 2013, and would be returning as such this season.
S Conte out 4-5 mos. after shoulder surgery 04-03-2014
Chris Conte FS TB
Bears S Chris Conte has undergone shoulder surgery, and will be sidelined 4-5 months.

Jeff Dickerson on Twitter
The timeline leaves Conte highly questionable for training camp. He'll likely start out on the active/PUP list. It's a major setback for a player who's supposedly "in the mix" to start despite a rough 2013. Going into the final year of his rookie contract, Conte's injury has probably sewn up a spot on the bench.
Nate Burleson visiting the Browns on Saturday 04-03-2014
Nate Burleson WR CLE
Free agent Nate Burleson will visit the Browns on Saturday.

Alex Marvez on Twitter
Burleson has met/is meeting with the Dolphins, but will head to Cleveland next. The Dolphins haven't been letting free-agent visitors get away without a deal this offseason, but Burleson can afford to take his time. The money should be roughly the same wherever he ends up. The Browns are looking for a slot receiver after Davone Bess tanked last season, but there's no guarantee Burleson would be an upgrade on in-house option Josh Cooper. Burleson appeared to have very little left in 2013.
Rudolph: I'm the best tight end in the league 04-03-2014
Kyle Rudolph TE MIN
Kyle Rudolph believes he's the best tight end in the NFL.

St. Paul Pioneer Press
It's a slow news day. "I feel as a tight end, it's extremely important to be a guy that can contribute in the running game and also in the passing game," Rudolph said. He's correct, though Rudolph has hardly been an elite blocker his three years in the league, and has just 109 catches across 39 career games. Thanks in part to poor coaching and quarterbacking, Rudolph's talent has largely gone to waste in the NFL, but that could change with tight-end friendly OC Norv Turner now calling the shots on offense. Rudolph is a strong breakout candidate.
Kurt Coleman visiting Colts on Friday 04-03-2014
Kurt Coleman SS CAR
Free agent S Kurt Coleman will visit the Colts on Friday.

Ian Rapoport on Twitter
Coleman visited the Jets on Tuesday. The Colts have a hole opposite LaRon Landry, but Coleman won't be viewed as a starting option after playing just 74 snaps for the Eagles last season.
Patriots reunite with FS Patrick Chung 04-03-2014
Patrick Chung SS NE
Patriots signed FS Patrick Chung, formerly of the Eagles.

Tom Curran on Twitter
Chung is returning to the team that made him a second-round pick in 2009. The Patriots have a hole opposite Devin McCourty after releasing Steve Gregory, but Chung was one of the very-worst safeties in the league last season. That, coupled with his long and winding injury history means he's almost certainly just a depth signing. Chung won't be guaranteed to crack the 53-man roster. Duron Harmon is the early favorite to start opposite McCourty.
Seahawks add LS Jorgen Hus 04-03-2014
Jorgen Hus LB KC
Seahawks signed LS Jorgen Hus to a three-year contract.

Seattle Times
Famous a for YouTube trick-shot video, Hus is just a camp body. Clint Gresham has been the Seahawks' long snapper since 2010, and is signed for 2014.
Packers keep FB Kuhn with one-year contract 04-03-2014
John Kuhn FB NO
Packers re-signed FB John Kuhn to a one-year contract.

Mike Garafolo on Twitter
According to FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo, the deal is worth "just over" $1 million. With the Packers since 2007, Kuhn was one of the league's better lead blockers last season as the Pack re-established their run game with a vengeance. Although he's a rather infamous fantasy-football vulture, Kuhn has just two total touchdowns over the past two seasons. He turns 32 in September.
Navorro Bowman aiming for mid-season return 04-03-2014
NaVorro Bowman LB SF
49ers ILB Navorro Bowman (ACL, MCL surgery) expects to return "about the middle of the season."

Bill Williamson on Twitter
Bowman said Tuesday that he's ahead of schedule in his rehab, but mid-season was always his most likely return date. Speaking in February, coach Jim Harbaugh all but assured that Bowman would begin the year on the reserve/PUP list, costing him the first six games. Bowman is a little more than two months removed from shredding his knee in the NFC Championship Game.
Bears re-sign Eben Britton on 1-year deal 04-03-2014
Eben Britton OT CHI
Bears re-signed T Eben Britton to a one-year contract.

Seattle not out of the mix for Sid Rice 04-03-2014
Sidney Rice WR SEA
ESPN's John Clayton says it's still possible the Seahawks will re-sign free agent WR Sidney Rice.
Teams are taking their time with Rice as he comes off an October ACL tear. He'd at least be a fit on paper in Seattle as an outside receiver capable of helping to fill Golden Tate's shoes. The Jets and Saints have also been linked to the oft-injured 27-year-old.
Eric Olsen signs as depth with Titans 04-03-2014
Eric Olsen C CLE
Titans signed G/C Eric Olsen.
Redskins add Colt McCoy as No. 3 quarterback 04-03-2014
Colt McCoy QB WAS
Redskins signed QB Colt McCoy. McCoy hasn't started a game since 2011, when he went 4-9 with a 74.6 passer rating for the Browns. He spent last year as Colin Kaepernick's backup in San Francisco. The popgun-armed McCoy slides in behind Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins as the No. 3 arm in Washington.
Mike Williams facing insurance lawsuit 04-03-2014
Mike Williams WR KC
Bucs WR Mike Williams is facing a lawsuit stemming from a kitchen fire in a home he rented last summer.

Tampa Bay Times
It's nothing serious, but Williams' name is in the news yet again for an off-field issue. The lawsuit alleges that he "negligently caused a fire while using the stove-top range," causing "heat, smoke and fire damage." The suit is seeking $54,453 plus interest and court costs.
Titans planning to install RB by committee 04-03-2014
Shonn Greene RB TEN
New coach Ken Whisenhunt plans to install a running back by committee approach this season.

Bleacher Report
We already know the identity of two members of the committee. Incumbent Shonn Greene will be the early down pounder and newly signed Dexter McCluster is going to play the passing back, Danny Woodhead role. We'd also expect the Titans to use one of their mid-round draft picks on a running back. Whisenhunt already knows Greene is not a true NFL feature back.
Colts not interested in Danieal Manning yet 04-03-2014
Danieal Manning S HOU
The Colts are not currently interested in free agent S Danieal Manning.
Indy has a hole at free safety after losing Antoine Bethea to the 49ers in free agency. But for now, it looks like they'll go the value route with in-house options Delano Howell and Sergio Brown competing with a draft pick. Manning had visits with the Bengals and Chiefs this week.
Chase Coffman done with Falcons 04-03-2014
Chase Coffman TE IND
The Falcons have informed free agent TE Chase Coffman that they won't be offering him a contract.

Chase Coffman on Twitter
The Falcons currently have a gaping hole at tight end thanks to Tony Gonzalez's retirement. So the fact that they're done with Coffman is a bad sign for his flickering career. The 2010 third-round pick of the Bengals has four catches in 21 career NFL games.
Report: Nate Burleson to visit with Dolphins 04-03-2014
Nate Burleson WR CLE
According to NFL Network, free agent WR Nate Burleson will visit the Dolphins.

Lamar Holmes projects as backup for ATL 04-03-2014
Lamar Holmes T ATL
Falcons OT Lamar Holmes projects as a backup this season.
The Falcons spent last offseason talking up Holmes as a potential Pro Bowler at right tackle. He ended up benched at times and finished 75th among 76 qualifying tackles in PFF's grades. The Falcons desperately need to draft offensive line help as they try to rehab their running game and keep Matt Ryan upright. Ryan was sacked 44 times last season, tied for third-most in the league.
DeSean Jackson gets full $16M guaranteed 04-03-2014
DeSean Jackson WR WAS
DeSean Jackson's contract with the Redskins has $16 million fully guaranteed, including a $5 million signing bonus.
On paper, it's a three-year, $24 million deal as originally announced. But in reality, Jackson is only certain to get two years and $16 million. Still, it's $1 million more in guaranteed money than he got from the Eagles in his 2012 contract and his average annual salary is $700,000 more than top free agent receiver Eric Decker got from the Jets. Considering Jackson's off-field issues, how late we are in free agency and the notion that the Redskins were bidding against themselves, it's a decent deal struck by agent Joel Segal. Jackson also gets to be an unrestricted free agent again at age 30, setting himself up for one more payday if he keeps his nose clean.
CJ2K's agent confirms client is done in TEN 04-03-2014
Chris Johnson RB ARZ
Chris Johnson's agent, Joel Segal, confirmed his client is done in Tennessee.

Profootballtalk on
The Titans' offseason program begins on Monday, so Johnson will presumably be handed his walking papers by then. There's almost no chance a team will trade away any draft pick for the right to pay a 29-year-old (in September) an $8 million base salary. Shonn Greene is going to be on top of the Titans' depth chart at running back as May's draft approaches.
