Derrick Williams gets some rest Thursday 10-10-2013
Derrick Williams F CLE
Derrick Williams did not play against the Bucks on Thursday.

Jerry Zgoda on Twitter
Rick Adelman said he just wanted to rest Williams to allow Shabazz Muhammad to get some extra playing time. Muhammad scored 11 points in 21 minutes off the bench, so he hasn't done much to garner our attention in most leagues.
Steve Nash out with a sore left ankle injury 10-10-2013
Steve Nash G LAL
Steve Nash has a sore left ankle and will not return to Thursday's game.

Mike Trudell on Twitter
He's been bothered by a hamstring injury for most of the offseason and training camp, so this is a new injury. Nash's age is catching up with him at 39, which has caused his draft stock to slide significantly. He finished with no points and two assists in nine minutes.
Giannis Antetokounmpo hands in a wild line 10-10-2013
Giannis Antetokounmpo F MIL
Giannis Antetokounmpo turned in a wild stat line in Thursday's game, shooting 1-of-6 from the field for four points with seven boards, one steal and four blocks in 28 minutes. He showed his age tonight with seven turnovers and five fouls on top of the poor shooting. Antetokounmpo is an interesting young prospect, but his skills as a small forward make him an intriguing player to watch. He's still going to be too inconsistent to draft in standard leagues.
John Henson scores 16 points in start 10-10-2013
John Henson F MIL
John Henson started for the injured Ersan Ilyasova (ankle) on Thursday and had 16 points, five boards, two assists and two steals in 25 minutes. He's going to be counted on with Ersan's ankle injury possibly keeping him out of regular-season action. Henson has a lot of length and was terrific in summer league, so we like him as a late-round pick in standard drafts.
Dwyane Wade plays 21 minutes on Thursday 10-10-2013
Dwyane Wade G CHI
Dwyane Wade played 21 minutes in his first start of the preseason on Thursday, scoring eight points with four boards and four assists. He was questionable for the entire preseason, but he must be close to 100 percent to suit up for a meaningless preseason contest. Wade's knee issues have knocked him out of the first round in most drafts, so he can turn out to be a value in the second as long as he stays healthy.
Michael Beasley makes Heat return 10-10-2013
Michael Beasley F MIL
Michael Beasley made his 2013-14 preseason debut on Thursday with nine points, two boards, one assist and one block in nine minutes. It must have felt good for Beasley to get back on the court after being cut by the Suns this summer. He doesn't have much of a defined role with the team and isn't worth drafting in standard leagues.
Chris Andersen returns from foot issue 10-10-2013
Chris Andersen F CHA
Chris Andersen played eight minutes in his return from a foot injury and failed to score Thursday. He pulled down three boards and only took one shot, which was a 3-pointer. The Heat are going to need Birdman off the bench with Greg Oden still not ready to return. Andersen is only an option in deep leagues.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has an off night 10-10-2013
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope G DET
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope shot 2-of-8 from the field for nine points with five boards, two assists, one steal, one block and one 3-pointer in 26 minutes. He had some point guard duties tonight, but couldn't capitalize with the Pistons missing a lot of bodies. He was expected to come off the bench to start the year, but Rodney Stuckey being out could force Mo Cheeks to reevaluate his rotation.
Will Bynum plays 47 minutes, scores 28 points 10-10-2013
Will Bynum PG ATL
Will Bynum was busy on Thursday night, playing 47 minutes while scoring a team-high 28 points with four boards, six assists and one 3-pointer against the Heat. The Pistons were without Rodney Stuckey, Brandon Jennings and Chauncey Billups, so Bynum almost picked up the slack by himself. With Rodney Stuckey out indefinitely, Bynum could get more than 24 minutes per game off the bench. He's someone to consider for owners that didn't draft enough assists.
Andre Drummond drops 21 points with 11 boards 10-10-2013
Andre Drummond C DET
Andre Drummond was impressive yet again on Thursday, making 8-of-11 from the field for 21 points with 11 boards and one block in 28 minutes. It's getting a little old how dominant Drummond looks these days. He scored 14 points in the first seven minutes of action and continues to look impossible to cover around the rim. Drummond just turned 20 this past summer and he's shaping up to be one of the best young centers in just his second season.
Brandan Wright has fracture in his shoulder 10-10-2013
Brandan Wright F MEM
Brandan Wright suffered a small, non-displaced fracture of his left shoulder and is out indefinitely.

Tim MacMahon on Twiter
He's not expected to have surgery, but the fracture should cost him some time in the regular season. It's a tough break for Wright after a productive and eye-catching offseason. Samuel Dalembert will take on most of the minutes at center and the team may have to call upon DeJuan Blair more than anticipated.
Jimmer Fredette is starting at shooting guard 10-10-2013
Jimmer Fredette G NO
Jimmer Fredette is starting at shooting guard against the Lakers on Thursday night. He'll join Isaiah Thomas Travis Outlaw, Patrick Patterson and DeMarcus Cousins in the lineup. Coach Mike Malone has some work to do in figuring out his rotation, so he might want to get a better look at The Jimmer. Fredette will need a preseason for the ages to put himself on the map in standard fantasy leagues.
Chauncey Billups will not play Thursday 10-10-2013
Chauncey Billups G DET
Chauncey Billups will not play against the Heat on Thursday.

Vincent Ellis on Twitter
There's no word of an injury and he's likely just getting a night off. The Pistons are also without Brandon Jennings (wisdom tooth discomfort) and Rodney Stuckey (thumb) so Will Bynum will get all the minutes he can handle while Kentavious Caldwell-Pope will be busy, too.
Nate Wolters starts at point guard Thursday 10-10-2013
Nate Wolters PG DEN
Nate Wolters will start at point guard on Thursday.

C.F. Gardner on Twitter
The game is in South Dakota and Wolters went to South Dakota State, so coach Larry Drew is just pleasing the crowd. He has no fantasy value.
Anthony Bennett still working on conditioning 10-10-2013
Anthony Bennett F BKN
Anthony Bennett said he's still working on his conditioning.

Plain Dealer
"I've been working on it, I'm trying to play longer periods of time in games," Bennett said. "Whenever Coach puts me out there I want to go out and play hard, but I'm still trying to improve on that. I'm just taking it day by day." He had a rough start to his career on Tuesday, making 2-of-12 from the field in 23 minutes and looked tired for much of the game. Bennett could have a slow start this season, but since he has a green light for 3-pointers, he has some alluring upside.
Dwyane Wade in the starting lineup Thursday 10-10-2013
Dwyane Wade G CHI
Dwyane Wade will start against the Pistons on Thursday. He went through warmups and looks like he's healthy. Wade didn't play in Monday's preseason opener and the Heat might be watching his minutes tonight. He's been coming off the board in the second round of most drafts and should enter the season healthy.
Kevin Martin (Achilles) won't play Thursday 10-10-2013
Kevin Martin G SA
Kevin Martin (Achilles) will not play against the Bucks on Thursday.

Jerry Zgoda on Twitter
He hurt his Achilles on Wednesday and the Wolves will likely keep him out of Saturday's contest, too. Martin has missed a lot of games in his career, so while his Achilles injury is not considered serious, it's still something that hurts his value in fantasy leagues. Alexey Shved should start and Shabazz Muhammad could also get a little more time at shooting guard with Kev-Mart out.
Brandon Jennings (tooth) is a late scratch 10-10-2013
Brandon Jennings G NY
Brandon Jennings will not play in Thursday's preseason game due to wisdom tooth pain.

Keith Langlois on Twitter
The Pistons are going to start Will Bynum and with Rodney Stuckey fracturing his thumb, there's a big opportunity for some guards to get minutes against the Heat. Jennings should be fine and could be back on the court for Saturday's preseason contest
JaVale McGee has tests on lung capacity 10-10-2013
JaVale McGee C GS
JaVale McGee said he still has low lung capacity from asthma.

Denver Post
"I've been trying to play out of it, out of my asthma," McGee said. "It's working so far." He added that he still believes he can be a 35 minutes-per-game guy. McGee didn't play more than 30 minutes in any game last season, but he played at least 33 minutes for four consecutive games back in February 2012, so he's capable of playing a lot. He saw 28 minutes of action on Tuesday and looks poised to have his best season as a pro.
Rodney Stuckey (thumb) will have surgery 10-10-2013
Rodney Stuckey G IND
Rodney Stuckey fractured his right thumb and will have surgery on Friday.

Vincent Goodwill on Twitter
He will be out for a while with the injured and suffered it by getting it jammed in a car door. Stuckey had a shot to be the team's starting shooting guard, but he will likely miss a portion of the season. Chauncey Billups should be considered as the frontrunner to win the job, but Kentavious Caldwell-Pope also has a shot.
Hickson will start at power forward Thursday 10-10-2013
J.J. Hickson F WAS
J.J. Hickson will start at power forward for the Nuggets on Friday.

Chris Dempsey on Twitter
It's not a permanent move and coach Brian Shaw just wants to get a look at his depth. Hickson double-doubled on Tuesday with 13 points and 10 boards, so he's looking good with his new team. Kenneth Faried is fine and should be able to keep his starting job as long as he's healthy. Anthony Randolph could also start at small forward.
Luigi Datome still out with a hamstring issue 10-10-2013
Luigi Datome G BOS
Luigi Datome (hamstring) will not play against the Heat on Thursday.

Keith Langlois on Twitter
It doesn't sound like this is just a garden-variety strain and he could miss more time. There is no word on the severity, but the Pistons haven't given any indication when he'll be on the court again. Even though Datome is in the mix to be the first forward off the bench, he isn't worth drafting in most leagues until his role becomes clear.
Peyton Siva still out on Thursday night 10-10-2013
Peyton Siva G ORL
Peyton Siva (calf) will not play against the Heat on Thursday night.

Keith Langlois on Twitter
He's been dealing with a calf strain and has been out for over one week. Siva is unlikely to be in the rotation for his rookie season.
Kyle Singler starting at shooting guard Thurs 10-10-2013
Kyle Singler F OKC
Kyle Singler will start at shooting guard for the Pistons on Thursday.

Vincent Goodwill on Twitter
Coach Maurice Cheeks said his starting shooting guard for opening night will be either Rodney Stuckey or Chauncey Billups, so this is a somewhat surprising move. This is more of an experiment, but getting Singler minutes at shooting guard could help him gain value in deeper formats.
Bulls expected to run more with Derrick Rose 10-10-2013
Derrick Rose G NY
Tom Thibodeau said the Bulls will try and run more this season.

ESPN Chicago
"I think the important thing is to be well-balanced," Thibodeau said. "Obviously, you want to get as many easy baskets as you can. So how do you get them? And the obvious [answer] is the fast break. If you've watched any Bulls preseason action, you might have noticed Derrick Rose really pushing the ball in the open floor. The Bulls were 27th in pace last season, which should rise even though they were 25th with Rose in the lineup back in 2011-12. Chicago having Jimmy Butler also helps support this idea and he's looked great this preseason, as well. Rose will likely be off the board in the first round of your draft.
Kendrick Perkins C NO
Kendrick Perkins is facing a misdemeanor assault charge from an alleged altercation outside of a nightclub in July.

According to the report, the altercation occurred outside of a nightclub. The case against Perkins was initially dismissed, but it has been refiled. This is the second time he's had charges against him with the first being public intoxication and disorderly conduct back in 2011. It should not impact his status for the season.
Zaza Pachulia does 1-on-1 workouts Thursday 10-10-2013
Zaza Pachulia C GS
Zaza Pachulia (Achilles) did some 1-on-1 workouts on Thursday.

Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel
He had surgery on his Achilles back in April and this was his first noteworthy update that he's back on the court. Pachulia signed a three-year deal with the Bucks, which still seems odd and caused the team to surprisingly waive Gustavo Ayon. Zaza will back up Larry Sanders at center and could be used more with Ersan Ilyasova (ankle) currently sidelined.
Andre Barrett signs with the Grizzlies 10-10-2013
Andre Barrett G MEM
Andre Barrett has signed with the Grizzlies.

Ronald Tillery on Twitter
He was last with the Clippers in 2008 and played just 6.3 minutes per game. Barrett won't come close to sniffing fantasy value this year.
David Lee's hip no longer an issue 10-10-2013
David Lee F SA
David Lee is coming off of offseason hip surgery, but has scored in double figures in each of three preseason games. He should be a double-double machine again this season and it looks like there are no current injury concerns with Lee.
Taj Gibson playing well after ankle injury 10-10-2013
Taj Gibson F CHI
Taj Gibson is averaging 16.5 points and 9.0 rebounds after two preseason games. He came into the preseason gimpy with an ankle injury, but has been making the most of the extra minutes he's getting with Joakim Noah sidelined. Noah could play on Saturday, so it will be interesting to see if Gibson keeps rolling. As usual, as long as Noah and Carlos Boozer are healthy, Gibson will be an inconsistent performer.
Jordan Crawford back at practice Thursday 10-10-2013
Jordan Crawford G CHI
Jordan Crawford was back with the team for Thursday's practice.

Celtics on Twitter
He had a death in the family and missed Wednesday's preseason game. Crawford is expected to be more of a passer than his usual shoot-first style, and with the lack of depth on the Celtics, he'll be worth monitoring in most formats.
Meyers Leonard (right foot) not practicing 10-10-2013
Meyers Leonard F POR
Meyers Leonard is dealing with a strained right foot and is not practicing on Thursday.

Joe Freeman on Twitter
The Blazers can't catch a break and they've had a litany of injuries this preseason. Leonard will backup Robin Lopez at center and should see more than his 17.5 minutes per game from last season. He's worth monitoring, but isn't quite worthy of a pick in standard leagues unless Lopez flops.
Earl Watson (calf) sitting out again Thursday 10-10-2013
Earl Watson G POR
Earl Watson (calf) is not practicing in Thursday.

Erik Gundersen on Twitter
He has a left calf contusion and will miss seven days at the minimum. Watson should get more minutes with the injury to C.J. McCollum (foot), but he's still not on the radar in almost any league.
Dorell Wright (finger) not practicing Thurs. 10-10-2013
Dorell Wright SF LAC
Dorell Wright (finger) is not practicing on Thursday.

Erik Gundersen on Twitter
He played through the injury on Saturday, but the team has held him out since. Wright is likely dealing with some discomfort since he doesn't have a fracture. He's not worth drafting in standard leagues.
Jermaine O'Neal out with lower back issue 10-10-2013
Jermaine O'Neal C GS
Jermaine O'Neal remained out of practice on Thursday with his lower back pain.

Rusty Simmons on Twitter
The Warriors next preseason game isn't until Tuesday, so perhaps JO can make it back by then. O'Neal is one of the most injury-prone players in the league and the Warriors should keep his minutes in the teens this season.
Harrison Barnes (foot) still not practicing 10-10-2013
Harrison Barnes F DAL
Harrison Barnes (foot) did not practice on Thursday.

Rusty Simmons on Twitter
He is still dealing with some inflammation in his left foot, but it's not considered serious. Barnes was in the starting lineup before going down, but he still expects to come off the bench. Meanwhile, Klay Thompson has looked fantastic this preseason with the extra playing time.
John Jenkins still not practice on Thursday 10-10-2013
John Jenkins G PHO
John Jenkins (back) will not practice on Thursday.

Chris Vivlamore on Twitter
He's been having problems with his back for over two months and doesn't have a timetable to return. The MRI on his back was negative, so we'd guess he'll be ready for the season. Jenkins should be in the rotation, but won't get a big enough piece of the scoring pie to matter in standard formats.
Blake Griffin (knee bruise) not practicing 10-10-2013
Blake Griffin F LAC
Blake Griffin will not practice on Thursday due to a left knee bruise. He suffered a fractured left knee cap to start his career and only really had a couple issues with that knee since. Griffin should be fine and the Clippers are just being careful. He'll be on Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday night, so he should be fine for the opener.
Tim Hardaway Jr. will be part of the rotation 10-10-2013
Tim Hardaway Jr. G ATL
Tim Hardaway Jr. will be part of the Knicks rotation to start the season.

Marc Berman on Twitter
He was hot on Wednesday night and certainly helped himself, scoring 16 points in 25 minutes. The Knicks have some depth at guard, but Hardaway could provide them with some perimeter scoring off the bench. He shot 37.4 percent from beyond the arc at Michigan last year and had an underwhelming junior season, so he'll lack enough consistency to matter in most fantasy formats.
Alonzo Gee resting for Friday's game 10-10-2013
Alonzo Gee F DEN
Alonzo Gee (hamstring) will not play in Friday's preseason game against the Magic.

Bob Finnan on Twitter
His hamstring issue popped up on Tuesday's injury report and the Cavs are going to let him heal a bit. Gee had a big opportunity last season and played 34.3 minutes per game in December, but it dropped to 29.7 after the break. He's not worth targeting in almost any league.
Tyler Zeller out for second preseason game 10-10-2013
Tyler Zeller C BOS
Tyler Zeller (hip) will not play against the Magic on Friday.

Bob Finnan on Twitter
He had hoped to not miss any time from his injury on Saturday, but his strained hip flexor will cost him a week of action. Zeller will come off the bench this year and his role is unlikely to be as prominent as last season.
Udonis Haslem works to improve shooting range 10-10-2013
Udonis Haslem F MIA
Udonis Haslem has been working on his 3-point shot in an attempt to become more versatile.

South Florida Sun-Sentinel
This is a flashback to last summer, when Haslem "spent time on [3-point shooting]" and proceeded to go the entire year without so much as a 3-point attempt. If nothing else, improved shooting range should help him compete for minutes in a crowded frontcourt.
Spurs waive training camp invitee Sam Young 10-10-2013
Sam Young G SA
The Spurs have waived Sam Young, according to Jared Zwerling of Turner Sports.

Jared Zwerling on Twitter
Young was in the running for a roster spot at backup SF, along with Corey Maggette and guys like Courtney Fells and Dan Nwaelele. Gregg Popovich said that Marco Belinelli and Manu Ginobili will slide over and play SF occasionally, but he added that they're both "a little bit slight for some of the teams we're going to play."
Gaddy, Daniels cut by Bobcats 10-10-2013
Abdul Gaddy G CHA
Bobcats waive point guards Abdul Gaddy and Troy Daniels. They never had much of a chance to make the team with Kemba Walker and Ramon Sessions ready to run the show.
Brendan Haywood (foot) out 12 weeks 10-10-2013
Brendan Haywood C POR
Brendan Haywood has a stress fracture in his left foot, will have surgery and be sidelined for about 12 weeks.

Rick Bonnell on Twitter
This means more minutes for guys like Al Jefferson and Bismack Biyombo, but shouldn't have too much of an impact. Haywood was going to have a limited role anyway.
Thunder waive C Daniel Orton 10-10-2013
Daniel Orton F WAS
Thunder waive C Daniel Orton.

Darnell Mayberry on Twitter
The Thunder have plenty of options at center, including Kendrick Perkins, Steven Adams and Hasheem Thabeet, not to mention Serge Ibaka and Nick Collison, so there was simply no room for Orton. The Thunder have one more cut to make, as the roster stands at 16.
Royce White to debut for 76ers on Friday 10-10-2013
Royce White F SAC
Royce White is expected to make his Sixers debut on Friday against the Celtics.
He was allowed to skip the team's two-game trip to Europe, but is planning to fly to games this season when necessary, and drive to games that aren't too far from home. It's anyone's guess how much or how well White will play for the Sixers this year, but it does appear that this season will be much different from last year, when he clashed with the Rockets in several areas. If he has a good preseason, he might be worth a late-round flier in deep leagues, but let's see him play before going there.
Granger struggles with shot Thursday 10-10-2013
Danny Granger F DET
Danny Granger came off the bench again for the Pacers on Thursday morning, but started the second half. He struggled, hitting just 2-of-10 shots for nine points in 28 minutes. But the key here is that he's been able to handle more minutes in the preseason than we expected, which bodes well for him getting plenty of run once the real season gets here. Whether he starts over Lance Stephenson or not remains to be seen, but either way, Granger is looking like a better late gamble with each passing day.
Casspi has big game in win over Pacers 10-10-2013
Omri Casspi F SAC
Omri Casspi had another fine preseason game with 17 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, a block and two 3-pointers on 6-of-9 shooting in just 21 minutes. He hit 9-of-10 shots in his last one, and while we're still not ready to jump on his bandwagon, it's hard to ignore his start, or the way he looked doing it. Maybe he's ready to turn a corner and breakout this season, but we need to see him perform consistently before believing the hype.
Donatas Motiejunas looks good vs. Pacers 10-10-2013
Donatas Motiejunas F NO
Donatas Motiejunas came off the bench for 16 points, three rebounds, a steal and a block on 7-of-12 shooting on Thursday. He played 20 minutes and is starting to look like the team's starting power forward, although he'll continue to compete with Greg Smith for the job. With Smith sitting out due to a hip injury, and Motijunas playing so well, it looks like he has the advantage.
Beverly plays well in start for Rockets 10-10-2013
Patrick Beverley G HOU
Patrick Beverly started in Thursday morning's preseason game against the Pacers from the Philippines and had 12 points, five boards, four assists, a steal and two 3-pointers on 4-of-5 shooting in 26 minutes. No, he hasn't unseated starter Jeremy Lin just yet, but it's possible he could before the end of the season. It does look like a timeshare is brewing here, and both players are going to have some fantasy value. Lin also played well off the bench with 14 points, six boards and five assists in 23 minutes.
J.J. Redick sidelined by quad injury 10-10-2013
J.J. Redick G LAC
J.J. Redick is expected to miss the next 10 days or so with his bruised left quad.

Los Angeles Times
The injury is a little more severe than we initially thought, but it still sounds like he'll be ready for the start of the season, barring a setback.
Will Bynum likely out of Pistons rotation 10-10-2013
Will Bynum PG ATL
Guard Will Bynum will likely not be a part of the Pistons rotation this season.

Detroit Free Press
He'll be stuck behind Brandon Jennings, Rodney Stuckey, Chauncey Billups and rookie Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and would only become relevant if the Pistons have injury woes. Bynum missed Tuesday's game with a hip injury, but was able to return to practice on Wednesday.
Kadji, Sims battling for spot with Cavs 10-10-2013
Kenny Kadji F CLE
Kenny Kadji and Henry Sims are battling it out for one of the final big-man roster spots in Cleveland.

Akron Beacon-Journal
Kadji had 15 points and five boards on Tuesday, while Sims had four points and one rebound in half as many minutes. One of these guys is probably going to make the team, while it would also appear that DeSagana Diop is on his last legs. Diop was physically word down after just three minutes. Kadji is the most exciting player of this group, but it might be Sims that wins the roster spot.
Joakim Noah (groin) hoping to play Saturday 10-10-2013
Joakim Noah C NY
Joakim Noah, who has missed his first two preseason games with a sore groin, is hoping to play on Saturday.

Chicago Tribune
Noah looked good in Wednesday's conditioning practice and was healthy enough to run straight from his bus to the ocean when the team arrived in Rio (he wore his swim suit was under his street clothes). Injuries are always a concern with Noah and groins can easily be aggravated, but at least we're not hearing about his feet. "It's still not 100 percent," Noah said. "I'll try to get to 100 percent before I get out there. Hopefully, I'll be able to go Saturday."
Gerald Wallace nursing bruises 10-10-2013
Gerald Wallace F PHI
Gerald Wallace sat out the second half of Wednesday's preseason loss to the Knicks, which was the plan at the start of the night.
Wallace started over Jeff Green and then iced his left foot for the second half. "I knew he was not going to play in the second half at the start of the night," coach Brad Stevens said. "He's got nicks and bruises that he's taking care of but he's [otherwise] fine physically." Wallace has played well in both preseason games, while Green is off to a slow start, but we expect to see those trends do a 180 once the real season starts.
Channing Frye scores 14 points in 16 minutes 10-10-2013
Channing Frye F CLE
Channing Frye quietly thrived in his long-awaited return to the court on Wednesday, scoring 14 points with three 3-pointers and one rebound in 16 bench minutes. He drained 5-of-6 shots overall, with one assist and one steal. Frye's conditioning is the only impediment to his being a regular part of the rotation at PF and C, and just two years ago the 30-year-old knocked down 12.7 points with 6.7 rebounds and 1.0 blocks for the Suns. He also played 33 minutes that year, which he's unlikely to approach in 2013-14, so fantasy owners should avoid him until the final rounds.
Alex Len scoreless in second preseason game 10-10-2013
Alex Len C PHO
In his second NBA preseason appearance, Suns rookie Alex Len was scoreless with two rebounds and four personal fouls in 14 minutes. He was better in Monday's opener, scoring seven points on 3-of-7 shooting with six rebounds and one block. There's been plenty of talk about Len usurping the starting center job from Marcin Gortat, an outcome which is all but inevitable (Gortat has even asked about playing some PF minutes), but Len's preseason play has likely cemented him in a bench role to start the season.
Eric Bledsoe fills up stat sheet in PG start 10-10-2013
Eric Bledsoe G PHO
Eric Bledsoe scored only six points on 3-of-11 shooting on Wednesday, but he had five rebounds, nine assists, four steals and zero turnovers in a start at PG. Bledsoe will start alongside Goran Dragic this season, playing both guard positions interchangeably. He scored 22 points in 21 minutes during Monday's exhibition and he'll soak up minutes on a young, rebuilding Suns team. It's well worth remembering his per-36-minute stats from last season -- 14.9 points, 0.7 triples, 5.2 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.3 blocks.
Goran Dragic scores team-high 19 points 10-10-2013
Goran Dragic G MIA
Goran Dragic came off the Suns' bench for a team-high 19 points on Wednesday, making 7-of-9 FGs with two 3-pointers. Dragic will start with Eric Bledsoe on opening night and there's nothing to be gleaned from Shannon Brown's temporary starting SG job on Wednesday. Dragic also made 3-of-4 FTs, which unfortunately is right on pace with his career 74.1 percent FT shooting.
Marcus Morris scores 15 points in start at SF 10-10-2013
Marcus Morris F DET
Marcus Morris started at SF on Wednesday, scoring 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting with three 3-pointers, seven boards, two assists, one steal and zero turnovers. The Suns opened their preseason vs. Maccabi Haifa on Monday, and despite only playing 16 bench minutes Marcus finished that game with 10 points, two 3s, two boards, three assists, one steal and one block. He faces competition at both forward positions, but his versatility and legitimate 3-point range make him a player to watch on the waiver wire.
Gerald Green fouls out in 13 mins of action 10-10-2013
Gerald Green F BOS
Gerald Green fouled out of Wednesday's exhibition in under 13 minutes off the Suns' bench. Green, who has no history of being foul-prone, finished 2-of-6 from the field with four boards, two assists, one steal, one block and two turnovers. P.J. Tucker wasn't much better, chipping in three points and six rebounds in 16 bench minutes, but tonight's starter Markieff Morris (15 points, seven boards) made it clear that SF minutes in Phoenix won't be earned without a fight.
Thomas Robinson ejected from exhibition 10-10-2013
Thomas Robinson F LAL
Thomas Robinson was ejected from Wednesday's game after picking up his second technical foul before halftime. The ejection didn't seem warranted and this won't do anything to assuage Robinson, who said this week that he's "pissed off" and has been disrespected since coming to the NBA. Portland already picked up his 2014-15 option and he'll need to play solid minutes as a backup PF if the Blazers are going to make the playoffs.
Freeland (back) active again on Wednesday 10-10-2013
Joel Freeland F POR
Joel Freeland (back) had nine points, five rebounds and one block as the Blazers lost at home to the Suns on Wednesday. He had four points and five boards in his preseason debut on Monday, and these two lines should guide fantasy owners' expectations for the regular season. He belongs on the waiver wire. At least his back injury isn't serious.
LaMarcus Aldridge (quad) logs 13 minutes 10-10-2013
LaMarcus Aldridge F SA
LaMarcus Aldridge (quad) played 13 minutes in Wednesday's preseason defeat, scoring 10 points on 4-of-9 field goals. The quad injury that nagged Aldridge for the past few days isn't serious, as proved by his presence in an exhibition. He grabbed six rebounds and blocked one shot before taking a seat for the rest of the night. Whether or not he's active in the Blazers' upcoming preseason games, he's on pace to play without limitations on opening night.
Mo Williams (ankle) makes Blazers debut 10-10-2013
Mo Williams G DEN
Mo Williams (ankle) made his unofficial Blazers debut on Wednesday, coming off the bench for nine points, one 3-pointer, seven assists and one steal. Mo also had five turnovers, but who's counting? He'll be the focal point of Portland's second unit, especially while C.J. McCollum (foot surgery) is sidelined, but injuries are a major concern -- since 2008-09 he's missed an average of 35.8 games per season.
