Samuel Dalembert plays through back issue 10-07-2013
Samuel Dalembert C DAL
Samuel Dalembert said that he played through a back issue on Monday night.

ESPN Dallas
Coach Rick Carlisle called him out for conditioning in after this game, so the two are not having a happy relationship so far. Sammy scored four points with two boards in 11 minutes against the Pelicans and wasn't very active. Dalembert said he sustained the injury in the team's first practice, but this is the first we've heard of the ailment. He is going to start, so he has value toward the end of drafts even though he will share minutes with Brandan Wright.
Brandan Wright shoots 7-of-8 in loss 10-07-2013
Brandan Wright F DAL
Brandan Wright was efficient in Monday's loss to the Pelicans, making 7-of-8 from the field for 14 points with three rebounds in 19 minutes. He's been turning heads among his teammates and coaches, but the 26-year-old big man is still going to come off the bench for the Mavs. Wright provides nice upside with blocks and he added a little more to his offensive arsenal this offseason, so he could be one of the best second-unit bigs in fantasy this season.
Anthony Davis loos superb with 25 points 10-07-2013
Anthony Davis F NO
Anthony Davis shot 11-of-19 from the field for 25 points against the Mavs on Monday to go with seven boards, one steal and one block. He was snakebit by injuries in his rookie year, but he was starting to put it together down the stretch last year. Davis also put on a show in Team USA training camp and looks poised to show all that hype from draft day was for a good reason. He won't be available past the second round in just about any standard fantasy draft.
Derrick Rose scores 13 in second game 10-07-2013
Derrick Rose G CHI
Derrick Rose stayed aggressive in Monday's 106-87 win over the Grizzlies, scoring 13 points with four boards, three assists, three steals and one 3-pointer in 23 minutes. He continues to show his love to get out in the open floor and push the ball in transition. The Bulls were 27th in fast-break points last year, which needless to say, is bound to go up this year. Rose has been attacking the basket looks to be back to his old self with his freakish athleticism. His ADP figures to be in the first round with outings like this one.
Derrick Williams gets hot vs. Moscow 10-07-2013
Derrick Williams F SAC
Derrick Williams looked good at the small forward spot on Monday scoring a team-high 21 points on 7-of-15 from the field with nine boards and two blocks in 30 minutes. The Wolves lost to CSKA Moscow in overtime and allowed them to shoot 52.5 percent from the field while they made only 41.2 percent of their shots. Williams was effective in his move to small forward and he'll be a key piece for the second unit with Chase Budinger out for a while. D-Will has been a letdown numerous times, but he's at least on the radar as a late-round pick in deeper leagues.
Earl Watson (calf) will not play on Monday 10-07-2013
Earl Watson G POR
Earl Watson (calf) will not play on Monday.

Chris Haynes on Twitter
He sustained a left calf contusion on Friday and has been out of practice. Watson isn't very durable at age 34 and he'll serve as emergency depth for Portland this season.
Chris Bosh scores 21 points vs. Hawks 10-07-2013
Chris Bosh F MIA
Chris Bosh got his 2013-14 year off to a nice start Monday, making 7-of-8 from the field for 21 points with five boards, two assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 20 minutes. He failed to score in the Finals-clinching win last year, so the Heat coaching staff probably wanted to make sure he had an opportunity to redeem himself. Of course, the obligatory "this was preseason" note does apply, but Bosh is one of the best big men in fantasy for both percentages and is still a solid pick in the late-early rounds.
Gerald Wallace puts up a nice line in opener 10-07-2013
Gerald Wallace F BOS
Gerald Wallace scored a team-high 16 points during Boston's 97-89 loss to the Raptors on Monday, adding two boards, four assists, one steal and two 3-pointers in 26 minutes. He was one of the biggest disappointments last year with the Nets, but he'll get a fresh start with Boston. Those new to fantasy hoops might not remember Wallace being a stud for his multi-category production a few years go, but he resembled his former self a bit tonight. That said, it's obviously going to take more than one preseason game for him to get back in our good graces. He's entered the conversation for standard leagues, though.
Jared Sullinger controls the paint Monday 10-07-2013
Jared Sullinger F BOS
Jared Sullinger didn't skip a beat in his return to action on Monday, scoring 14 points with six boards and four assists in 20 minutes. His 2012-13 season ended after suffering a back injury on January 30, eventually opting for surgery. In his usual fashion tonight, he had four offensive rebounds. Sullinger has a knack for getting good position and he showed some skills on offense. He even took a 3-pointer on the wing, but that's not something that figures to happen in the regular season. With his back issues behind him, he's put himself on the radar in the late rounds for owners looking to add some extra boards.
Tyler Hansbrough puts up 17 points on Monday 10-07-2013
Tyler Hansbrough F TOR
Tyler Hansbrough produced 17 points off the bench on Monday, adding nine boards and one block against the Celtics. He made 5-of-7 from the field and started off his stint with his new team on a positive note. Amir Johnson led the Eastern Conference in fouls per game last season and Jonas Valanciunas was just 0.1 fouls per 48 minutes behind Amir, so Psycho T is going to be a big part of Toronto's bench. It's still going to be tough to predict when Hansbrough turns in useful lines, so he's not someone we're going to target in standard leagues.
Jonas Valanciunas fouls out, double-doubles 10-07-2013
Jonas Valanciunas C TOR
Jonas Valanciunas fouled out in his 27 minutes of action on Monday, shooting 5-of-7 from the field for 10 points with 10 boards, two assists and two blocks. The fouls were a little bit lazy, but outside of that, JV was as advertised. His post game was in fine form and the Celtics had a tough time defending him. Valanciunas scored the first three field goals for the Raptors and they weren't bashful about getting him the ball tonight. He's not going to come cheap in drafts, but he's still worth targeting as long as your reach for him isn't outrageous.
Tyreke Evans (left ankle) out 1-2 weeks 10-07-2013
Tyreke Evans G NO
Tyreke Evans (ankle) will be out 1-2 weeks and should be ready to start the season, according to GM Dell Demps.

John Reid on Twitter
This is good news and it sounds like Evans has just an ankle sprain. His injury looked terrible on Saturday as his ankle basically turned 90 degrees and he couldn't put any weight on it as he was carried to the locker room. Evans will come off the bench and will be in the running for Sixth Man of the Year while providing plenty of stats along the way.
Reggie Bullock still out with knee issues 10-07-2013
Reggie Bullock G LAC
Reggie Bullock (knee) will not play against the Blazers on Monday.

Madelyn Burke on Twitter
He's suffered from right knee soreness and has been out of action in practice. The Clippers have been high on Bullock since taking him in the first round of the 2013 draft, but he'll likely need a year before he gets his career off the ground to matter in most fantasy leagues. We're hoping to get a glimpse of the UNC product at some point this preseason.
Matt Barnes out of action on Monday 10-07-2013
Matt Barnes F LAC
Matt Barnes (calf) will not play against the Blazers on Monday.

Chris Haynes on Twitter
This is the first report of a calf problem for Barnes and it hasn't cost him any practice time. He will continue to help the Clippers and their strong second unit this year and has been able to post efficient and diverse lines in limited action. He's on the radar in the late rounds of drafts even though he's likely second on the depth chart behind Jared Dudley.
J.J. Redick will not play in preseason opener 10-07-2013
J.J. Redick G LAC
J.J. Redick (quad) will not play in Monday's preseason opener against the Blazers.

Chris Haynes on Twitter
We haven't heard of any issues with Redick at practice, so his quad issue is presumably a minor one. Redick is expected to start at shooting guard, but will have to bow out to Jamal Crawford quite a bit. He'll have his ups and downs through the year, which may limit his upside.
Gustavo Ayon leaves game with shoulder issue 10-07-2013
Gustavo Ayon F ATL
Gustavo Ayon exited Monday's game with a right shoulder injury.

Hawks on Twitter
He is being evaluated by team doctors and an update should be available soon. Ayon only has a minor shoulder issue from April 2012, so this is not a recurring issue. He had a nice summer and was named MVP of the FIBA Americas tournament. He'll provide some depth and doesn't have fantasy value in most leagues.
Wes Johnson (foot) day-to-day with strain 10-07-2013
Wesley Johnson G LAL
Wes Johnson was diagnosed with a strained tendon in his left foot and is listed as day-to-day.

Lakers on Twitter
The training staff was working on the back part of his foot after he exited Sunday night's game. It's good news that he didn't tear anything, but we'd expect him to miss some time to heal. His absence should help Xavier Henry get more time on the court, which makes him a good bet to make the team as long as he keeps up his productive play.
Dorell Wright (finger) sitting out on Monday 10-07-2013
Dorell Wright F POR
Dorell Wright (finger) will not play in Portland's preseason opener on Monday.

Chris Haynes on Twitter
He suffered a dislocation to his right middle finger over the weekend and was involved in the team's scrimmage on Saturday. Wright should be fine and should help the second unit, but his struggles from last year bumped him from consideration in standard leagues.
Mo Williams (ankle) will not play against LAC 10-07-2013
Mo Williams G POR
Mo Williams (ankle) will not play against the Clippers on Monday.

Joe Freeman on Twitter
The signing of Williams is looking pretty big right now with C.J. McCollum breaking his foot. The 30-year-old guard has returned to practice, so his absence from this game is more of a precaution. He is on the radar as a last-round pick in standard leagues.
LaMarcus Aldridge and Mo Williams out Monday 10-07-2013
LaMarcus Aldridge F POR
Lamarcus Aldridge (quad) will not play against the Clippers on Monday.

Joe Freeman on Twitter
Mo Williams (ankle) will also sit out of Portland's preseason debut. Aldridge has already been back at practice and the team just isn't quite willing to put him at risk at less than 100 percent. It would have been nice to see him show off his reportedly improved 3-point game, but we've still seen enough to think he's worth of a top-15 pick in standard leagues.
Jared Sullinger (back) aims to shed 10-15 lbs 10-07-2013
Jared Sullinger F BOS
Jared Sullinger (back) hopes to lose 10-15 pounds of "surgery weight."

Scott Souza on Twitter
Sullinger said this week that he's "not close" to returning, which is supported by his being 10-15 pounds above his ideal weight. The Celtics' rotations are up in the air and there's no lack of competition in the frontcourt, so Sullinger belongs on the waiver wire until further notice.
Dwyane Wade out Monday to get some rest 10-07-2013
Dwyane Wade G MIA
Dwyane Wade (rest) will sit out Monday's exhibition vs. the Hawks. There's nothing wrong with Wade, who entered the summer with a bone bruise in his knee but is now completely healthy. LeBron James gushed about Wade's quickness being the most pleasant surprise of training camp, and he should be a safe pick in the middle-to-late second round.
Billups expects to miss 3-4 preseason games 10-07-2013
Chauncey Billups G DET
Chauncey Billups only expects to play in four or five preseason games.

NBA.com
Detroit plays eight times, but Billups will sit out a few to rest and allow young guys like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to get more minutes. Billups said he loves the Pistons' ability to "change up in so many different matchups and lineups." The 37-year-old guard will provide veteran leadership and clutch play late in games, while sharing minutes with KCP, Brandon Jennings, Rodney Stuckey and Will Bynum.
Michael Beasley out w/ mild calf injury 10-07-2013
Michael Beasley F MIA
Michael Beasley will not play on Monday due to a "mild" calf injury.

Ethan Skolnick on Twitter
Expectations are low for Beasley as he attempts to rehab his image with the Heat this season. Even if he buys into Miami's championship-or-bust attitude and thrives in a bench role this season, he's unlikely to sustain reliable fantasy value.
Chris Andersen (foot) sidelined on Monday 10-07-2013
Chris Andersen F MIA
Chris Andersen will sit out Miami's exhibition on Monday with a foot injury.

Michael Wallace on Twitter
He's out because of blisters and this sounds like yet another precautionary preseason DNP. The Birdman will look to reprise his role from 2012-13, when he averaged 4.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in under 15 minutes per game.
Udonis Haslem (knee) won't play Monday 10-07-2013
Udonis Haslem F MIA
Udonis Haslem (knee) will not play on Monday.

Michael Wallace on Twitter
He joins Michael Beasley (shin), Chris Andersen (foot) and Greg Oden (knee) on the sidelines for Miami. He's still rebuilding his conditioning after knee surgery in July, but expects to be ready for the regular season.
J.J. Barea questionable for personal reasons 10-07-2013
Jose Juan Barea G MIN
J.J. Barea is questionable to play on Monday for personal reasons.

NBA.com
Barea missed only eight games last season and he's had no injury flags this summer. He averaged 15.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists with Portugal during the FIBA Americas tournament this summer, so a few days of rest in early October may actually be a good thing.
Ekpe Udoh (knee) questionable to play Tuesday 10-07-2013
Ekpe Udoh C MIL
Ekpe Udoh (knee) practiced on Monday but is questionable to play in Tuesday's preseason opener.

Milwaukee Bucks on Twitter
The Bucks might play it safe with Udoh and Khris Middleton (ankle) on Tuesday but neither injury is serious. Evan at full strength Udoh has an uphill battle for minutes in a frontcourt featuring Larry Sanders, Zaza Pachulia, Ersan Ilyasova and John Henson.
Zaza Pachulia, Delfino ruled out for Tuesday 10-07-2013
Carlos Delfino G MIL
Zaza Pachulia (Achilles) and Carlos Delfino (knee) won't play in the Bucks' preseason opener on Tuesday.

Andrew Gruman on Twitter
In addition, Khris Middleton (ankle) and Ekpe Udoh (knee) are both questionable with minor injuries, and head coach Larry Drew may play it safe with both of them.
Tyler Zeller out Tues. w/ strained hip flexor 10-07-2013
Tyler Zeller F CLE
Tyler Zeller has a strained left hip flexor and won't play in Tuesday's game vs. Milwaukee.

Bob Finnan on Twitter
An MRI confirmed the diagnosis and we're considering him day-to-day until further notice. Anderson Varejao, Tristan Thompson and Anthony Bennett should each pick up more playing time in Zeller's absence.
Jeremy Tyler (foot) not a lock to make roster 10-07-2013
Jeremy Tyler C NY
Knicks F Jeremy Tyler (foot surgery) isn't guaranteed a spot on the roster, according to Mike Woodson, despite having a partially guaranteed contract.

Adam Zagoria on Twitter
Tyler has a guaranteed $100k this season and his contract has no full guarantee date, according to ShamSports.com. New York is thin behind Tyson Chandler, however, with Andrea Bargnani and Kenyon Martin as the most likely backup centers if Tyler doesn't make the squad. Tyler had surgery to repair a stress fracture in his fifth metatarsal in early September, and he may not be healthy in time for the season opener.
Amare, Smith to miss three preseason games 10-07-2013
Amar'e Stoudemire F NY
Amare Stoudemire (knee), J.R. Smith (knee) and Jeremy Tyler (foot) will not travel with the Knicks for the first three games of the preseason.

Adam Zagoria on Twitter
It's a sensible move considering all three guys are recovering from surgeries. New York opens the preseason in Rhode Island vs. the Celtics on Wednesday, then travel for road games in Toronto, New Hampshire, Maryland, Toronto again, and Wisconsin.
Channing Frye, Malcolm Lee out Monday 10-07-2013
Channing Frye F PHO
Channing Frye (heart) and Malcolm Lee (knee/hip) will not play in Monday's exhibition vs. Maccabi Haifa.

Paul Coro on Twitter
Lee is still recovering from two surgeries, whle Frye has been medically cleared to play but is slowly building up his strength and conditioning. The Suns have six remaining preseason games after Monday, and we should see Frye on the court before much longer.
Klay Thompson fine coming off Warriors bench 10-07-2013
Klay Thompson G GS
Klay Thompson expects to come off the bench again vs. the Kings on Monday, and he has no complaints about playing a reserve role.

Marcus Thompson on Twitter
Thompson led the Warriors in points (26) and minutes (38) during their first preseason game. He's in the mix for the starting SG job but he'd also be a powerful addition to the Warriors' second unit this season, and Mark Jackson will use the rest of the preseason to tinker with his lineups and rotations.
LaMarcus Aldridge (quad) iffy to play Monday 10-07-2013
LaMarcus Aldridge F POR
LaMarcus Aldridge (quad) went through shootaround but is questionable to play on Monday.

Chris Haynes on Twitter
The Blazers would be wise to rest him if there's any doubt about his health. Whether he plays on Monday, it's a minor strain which shouldn't limit him when Portland's regular season begins in a little over three weeks.
Al Jefferson exits w/ sore hamstring 10-07-2013
Al Jefferson C CHA
Al Jefferson didn't finish Monday's practice due to a sore hamstring, but he expects to play on Tuesday.

Rick Bonnell on Twitter
The Bobcats open their preseason at home vs. the Hawks. It wouldn't be shocking to see Charlotte rest him one day as a precaution, but the mere possibility that Big Al would play suggests his hamstring injury is very minor.
Greg Monroe (hamstring) sitting out of drills 10-07-2013
Greg Monroe C DET
Greg Monroe (hamstring) is sitting out of drills on Monday.

Vincent Ellis on Twitter
This is the first we've heard of the injury, but it doesn't sound too serious. Monroe missed just three games in his first three seasons, so we'll give him the benefit of the doubt on this news. He probably won't be as involved in the offense with Josh Smith and Andre Drummond helping him down low, but he's still providing solid value in the middle rounds of drafts.
Jason Terry won't play on Tuesday night 10-07-2013
Jason Terry G SAC
Jason Terry (knee) will not play against the Wizards on Tuesday night.

Rod Boone on Twitter
The good news is he returned to contact on Monday, but he still hasn't been able to be a full participant in practice. Terry turned 36 last month and will be more of a role player with his new team this year.
Gal Mekel gets the start with Calderon out 10-07-2013
Gal Mekel G DAL
Gal Mekel will start at point guard for the Mavericks on Monday night.

Star Telegram
He'll fill in for the injured Jose Calderon (hamstring), and with Calderon expected to miss a couple more games, the team will get a good look at Mekel. The rookie put on a show in summer league, putting up eight assists in one half of action. Mekel is creative in getting his teammates the ball, but he still has a lot to develop to be a regular contributor for the Mavs.
Josh McRoberts expected to play Tuesday 10-07-2013
Josh McRoberts F CHA
Josh McRoberts (toe) is expected to play against the Hawks on Tuesday.

Rick Bonnell on Twitter
He has a minor turf toe-like issue which has bothered him for the past couple years and has missed some time in camp. McRoberts needs all the minutes he can get to keep rookie Tyler Zeller from taking his starting job. Zeller is the heavy favorite, so McBob isn't worth picking up in standard leagues.
Brendan Haywood out with a sprained foot 10-07-2013
Brendan Haywood C CHA
Brendan Haywood (foot) will not play in the Tuesday's preseason opener.

Rick Bonnell on Twitter
He's had multiple issues with his spraied foot and the team has little reason to trot him out there in October. Haywood is 33 and probably won't match his 19.0 minutes per game from last season, so he should be ignored in almost all fantasy leagues.
Cody Zeller to start at power forward Tuesday 10-07-2013
Cody Zeller F CHA
Cody Zeller will start at power forward on Tuesday against the Hawks.

Rick Bonnell on Twitter
The writing has been on the wall for a long time that Zeller is going to get every chance to be the team's starting power forward. The sample size is small, but his pro career hasn't skipped a beat this offseason headlined by his outstanding play in summer league. He is easily the best rookie big man to target in fantasy drafts.
Woodson wants a bigger guard at SG 10-07-2013
Iman Shumpert G NY
Mike Woodson said he'd rather play a bigger player at shooting guard.

ESPN NY
I'm going to try a big guard if I can and see how it plays out," Woodson said. The Knicks still don't have a starting lineup set to start the year, but the favorite looks to be Raymond Felton, Iman Shumpert, Carmelo Anthony, Andrea Bargnani and Tyson Chandler. Shumpert could have some low-level value while J.R. Smith is out of the lineup.
Pistons want to run more this season 10-07-2013
Brandon Jennings G DET
The Pistons will try to run more this year and create more turnovers.

Detroit News
Brandon Jennings helped the Bucks from 2012-13 rank third in pace, so he's fully capable of pushing the tempo. The Pistons ranked 22nd last year in pace and turnovers forced last season, and we're expecting both to increase. If you can stomach Jennings' shooting issues, he could be in for a nice season with his new team.
Joakim Noah (groin) ruled out for Monday 10-07-2013
Joakim Noah C CHI
Joakim Noah (groin) will not play in Monday's preseason game.

Nick Friedell on Twitter
He was essentially ruled out over the weekend, but it was never a guarantee until today. Coach Tom Thibodeau surprisingly revealed that Noah has a groin issue, but the extent is not yet known. Joakim should be ready to go for the season opener against the Heat.
Kendrick Perkins dislocated finger Sunday 10-07-2013
Kendrick Perkins C OKC
Kendrick Perkins dislocated his finger in Saturday's preseason game.

Oklahoman
He tried to adjust his finger in the game before he had to leave just before halftime. Rookie Steven Adams started the second half and scored seven points with six boards in the preseason opener. Perkins could miss Tuesday's game, but the injury is not considered serious.
Humphries not worried about trade rumors 10-07-2013
Kris Humphries F BOS
Kris Humphries said he's not worrying about the possible trade rumors that may come up this season.

Boston Herald
He said he's going to focus on what he can control and not worry about the future. Humphries has a chance to make the starting lineup and should at least be in the rotation after losing loads of playing time to Reggie Evans last season in Brooklyn.
Doron Lamb sprains ankle on Sunday 10-07-2013
Doron Lamb G ORL
Doron Lamb sprained his ankle on Sunday and will not practice on Monday.

Brian K. Schmitz on Twitter
He got a shot to contribute for the Magic down the stretch last year, scoring a career-high 16 points on April 10. This year, the addition of Victor Oladipo and Jameer Nelson entering the season healthy should posh Lamb to an insignificant role with the team to start the year.
Shaw wants to get McGee the ball inside 10-07-2013
JaVale McGee C DEN
Coach Brian Shaw said he wants to get the ball inside to JaVale McGee.

ESPN.com
"Definitely we want to play inside-out," Shaw said. "If he gets down the court and he's open, he has his man on his back, we want to throw the ball inside." Even though it was preseason, McGee did look more comfortable in the post on Sunday night. He finished with 12 points on 3-of-6 from the field and surprisingly made all six attempts from the line. The fun-loving center is on the short list of big men that could be in for a breakout season.
Jan Vesely to get first crack at starting? 10-07-2013
Jan Vesely F DEN
Jan Vesely appears to be the first player to get a chance to replace Emeka Okafor in the starting lineup, according to the Washington Post.

Washington Post
Interesting. Vesely has been more of a comic relief character in the basketball world, making 1-of-10 free throws in a September EuroBasket game while putting up airballs at the line here and there, as well. Although, he was effective in Las Vegas summer league and showed some improved post play against the inferior competition. The Wizards have to decide on whether they should extend him this month, but his 30.8 percent from the line last year is really going to hinder his fantasy value.
Emeka Okafor travels back to New York 10-07-2013
Emeka Okafor C PHO
Emeka Okafor (neck) is not with the team and traveled back to New York.

Washington Post
He's under supervision of a neck specialist in New York and doesn't appear close to a return. Okafor is out indefinitely and is not worth owning in most fantasy leagues until there is some sort of timetable for a return.
Calderon (hamstring) out for Monday's game 10-07-2013
Jose Calderon G DAL
Jose Calderon (hamstring) has been ruled out for Monday's preseason opener against the Pelicans.

Bryan Gutierrez on Twitter
He hasn't put in much practice since sustaining a hamstring pull on Wednesday. Calderon's health has been one of his weaker points of his career, but he was second in assists-to-turnover ratio last season and will be a big part of Dallas' offense. The team will get an extended look at Monta Ellis and Gal Mekel tonight.
Otto Porter (hip) not running or jogging yet 10-07-2013
Otto Porter Jr. F WAS
Otto Porter (hip) said he's still not running or jogging yet.

Washington Post
"I'm still not in the process of jogging or running. It's limited. But I'm doing whatever I can," Porter said. "You definitely want to be out there, but you also want to learn from the side." His hip flexor strain has kept him from fully participating in practice for all of camp, and the news of him not being able to run suggests it could be a while before he's all the way back. Porter has the potential to be a stat-stuffing stud one day, but owners in redraft standard leagues should look elsewhere in the later rounds. Martell Webster would benefit most should Porter not be ready for the season opener.
D'Antoni says Young is going to score a lot 10-07-2013
Nick Young G LAL
Coach Mike D'Antoni said that Nick Young is "going to score a lot of points for us."

ESPN.com
"That's what he does, he scores," D'Antoni said. "He wants to play the right way and he will. He is one of those guys that puts up a lot of points. Nick, he is going to score a lot of points for us." We're not so sure about Nick Young playing the right way since he's a bit of a bull in a china shop on offense, but at least he's fun to watch. Swaggy P took a team-high 16 shots on Sunday, making just four of those in 24 minutes. He'll have his big-time scoring games here and there, but his inconsistencies will keep him from being a reliable fantasy asset.
Carlisle says Monta Ellis will 'carry a load' 10-07-2013
Monta Ellis G DAL
Coach Rick Carlisle said Monta Ellis will "carry a load" for the Mavericks this year.

Dallas Morning News
"He knows he's going to have to carry a load for us with playmaking and scoring," Carlisle said. Ellis is coming off a sub-par season in Milwaukee, shooting just 41.6 percent from the field, which is the lowest since his rookie year back in 2005-06. Dirk Nowitzki and Monta could run a lot of pick-and-rolls and figure to generate a lot of offense for a team that's somewhat weak on D. Despite his struggles last year, he looks like a bargain in fantasy based on his current average draft position.
Pau Gasol, Steve Nash could rest Thursday 10-07-2013
Pau Gasol F LAL
Pau Gasol and Steve Nash could rest for Thursday's preseason game.

Mark Medina on Twitter
Both made their preseason debuts on Sunday night at home against Denver. Gasol was active in the game, but shot just 4-of-13 from the field. The Lakers did use him out of the post frequently, which has been a popular topic in the offseason. If he can stay healthy, he should be in for a productive season.
Knicks will still hoist 3-pointers this year 10-07-2013
Carmelo Anthony F NY
Coach Mike Woodson said that the Knicks will still take plenty of 3-pointers this year.

NY Post
They set the record for most 3-pointers by a team in a season in 2012-13, but losing Steve Novak suggests they won't be able to have a repeat performance. Carmelo Anthony set a career-high 2.3 triples per game last year and could flirt with that type of production again. J.R. Smith, Raymond, Felton, Andrea Bargnani, Iman Shumpert, Beno Udrih, Metta World Peace and Pablo Prigioni may also help contribute.
Ty Lawson looks good in preseason opener 10-07-2013
Ty Lawson G DEN
Ty Lawson had a team-high 10 rebounds to go with 15 points, six assists, one steal and one turnover on 7-of-10 shooting in Sunday's preseason opener against the Lakers. He did a lot of the ball handling and played a team-high 27 minutes. Lawson was really the only perimeter player in the game that looked ready, considering there were a total of 50 turnovers in this game. He should be in for an effective season in his first year with Brian Shaw as long as his Achilles issues don't pop up again.
Wilson Chandler (hamstring) on the mend 10-07-2013
Wilson Chandler G DEN
Wilson Chandler's strained left hamstring feels better and he intends to practice this week.

Chris Dempsey on Twitter
The injury was never serious, but Brian Shaw rested him during Sunday's preseason game so that his strain could "completely go away." Shaw has floated the idea of using Chandler as a shooting guard once Danilo Gallinari returns from knee surgery, which lends a perceptible glow to Chandler's fantasy outlook.
Pau Gasol (knees) plays 23 minutes vs. Denver 10-07-2013
Pau Gasol F LAL
Pau Gasol (knees) played 23 minutes in his preseason debut on Sunday, scoring 13 points with four rebounds and two assists. Gasol hit 4-of-13 shots and showed obvious signs of rust after a summer spent rehabbing his tendonosis-beleaguered knees. The good news is that he's declared himself healthy, and Mike D'Antoni intends to make him a focal point of the Lakers' offense. He should easily surpass last season's career-low 13.7 points on 11.8 FG attempts per game.
Steve Nash (hamstring) makes preseason debut 10-07-2013
Steve Nash G LAL
Steve Nash (hamstring) grabbed five rebounds and handed out six assists in Sunday's loss to Denver, but he was scoreless in 22 minutes of action. Nerve damage in Nash's leg limited him to 50 games played in 2012-13. He's healthy and ready to play on opening night, but Mike D'Antoni said this week that his 39-year-old starting PG might be held to around 25-31 minutes per game during the regular season. In all likelihood he'll have a few more days of prescribed rest as the preseason rolls along.
