Cartier Martin could end up in China 08-17-2013
Cartier Martin F ATL
Unrestricted free agent Cartier Martin is considering playing in China this upcoming season.

CSN Washington
He had a decent season with the Wizards in 2012-13, scoring at least 14 points in seven games. The Wizards dealt with a handful of injuries and they've revamped their guards and small forward spots this offseason, so Martin's services may not be needed.
Jazz players working out together in summer 08-17-2013
Trey Burke G UTH
Trey Burke, Jeremy Evans, John Lucas III, Ian Clark, Alec Burks, Enes Kanter and Brandon Rush have been working out together.

John Lucas on Twitter
The big takeaways here are that Brandon Rush appears to be over the ACL that he tore in the second game of last season and that Trey Burke is working on his game. Burke was dreadful in Orlando Summer League last month, making just 24 percent of his shots. Enes Kanter could be in for a big season as the starter and Burks is on the radar in standard leagues while Ian Clark is a deep-league lottery ticket for his 3-point prowess.
James Posey could join Celtics staff 08-17-2013
James Posey F IND
James Posey is a candidate to join Brad Stevens' staff with the Celtics.

Jeff Goodman on Twitter
He played with the Celtics in 2007-08 during their championship run, but he's been out of the NBA since 2011. Posey wasn't much of a vocal leader in his 12-year career, so it's a little surprising to hear his name as an NBA assistant.
Andre Drummond won't shoot FTs underhand 08-17-2013
Andre Drummond F DET
Andre Drummond said on Twitter that he's not shooting free throws underhand.

Andre Drummond on Twitter
He's 19 years old and shot just 37 percent from the line last year, so he's going to have to endure some criticism. Drummond is in the midst of a head-turning summer thanks to a big week in Orlando last month and is gaining steam as a fantasy pick for owners that don't care about free throw shooting.
Anthony Bennett expects to be ready 08-17-2013
Anthony Bennett F CLE
Anthony Bennett (shoulder) said that he "pretty sure" he'll be ready to start the season.

Jared Zwerling on Twitter
"I'm pretty sure I'll be back by the start of the season," Bennett said. He suffered a torn rotator cuff and has been taking it slow throughout the offseason, including skipping Las Vegas Summer League and not playing with the Canadian national team. It's still unclear how the Cavs are going to use the overall top pick and their surplus of frontcourt players is a negative to his fantasy value.
Evan Turner says team has a new start 08-17-2013
Evan Turner G IND
Evan Turner said that the Sixers have a "new start" this season.

Tom Moore on Twitter
"It's a new start for everything," Turner said. "They changed the front office, they changed the coach, got a lot of new players." Well, he's right for most of that. The Sixers haven't really got many new players and have serious issues with depth. Turner is expected to more to shooting guard with James Anderson as the most experienced player listed at that spot for now. There lack of depth opens up a lot of opportunities for their starters.
Tobias Harris likely to be starter for Magic 08-17-2013
Tobias Harris F ORL
Tobias Harris is expected to be the starter at power forward until Glen Davis is medically cleared.

Orlando Sentinel
Glen Davis will likely be moved back into the starting lineup since the team had a better record while he was on the court. It's going to be a bit of a mess for Orlando in the frontcourt, so fantasy owners need to take that into account before drafting Harris or Davis. If Davis can't prove his health, then we may become more bullish on Harris.
Dwyane Wade isn't worried about knee issues 08-17-2013
Dwyane Wade G MIA
Dwyane Wade said that he's not worried about his knee issues on Friday.

Miami Herald
"I don't worry about it because I've dealt with so many different injuries since I was young and I've always bounced back and found a way to be the player you guys have seen," Wade said. "I've seen it work with my body before. I'm confident it will. My skills haven't diminished. I'm not done yet." His track record does indeed suggest that he has been able to bounce back from injury, but at age 31, we're a little bit more apprehensive to believe him this time. Wade has arthritis in both of his knees and given his aggressive style of play, he'll carry some risk as a pick in fantasy leagues.
Omer Asik would prefer to start for Houston 08-17-2013
Omer Asik C NO
Omer Asik would prefer to start at center with the Rockets, according to GM Daryl Morey.

Reddit.com
There were rumors of Asik being unhappy about the Dwight Howard acquisition and the inevitable talk of him getting traded would later come about. Recently, Morey said that the team will experiment with putting Howard at power forward -- something he hasn't done since the 2006-07 season -- to allow Asik to get extra minutes at center. Regardless, Howard's presence in the paint should hurt Asik's numbers enough to make him a starting-caliber player in fantasy hoops.
Eric Bledsoe said that he's been working hard 08-17-2013
Eric Bledsoe G PHO
Eric Bledsoe said that he's been working hard during the offseason.

Arizona Republic
"I'm trying to get better, even better than I did last year," Bledsoe said. "Coming off the bench, I did a lot. I'm trying to increase that 10 times more. Just coming in and having a big impact in the game." It's hard to imagine Bledsoe doing anything 10 times hard than he does in the game since he's one of the most energetic players in the NBA. He's expected to be thrust into a significant role and since he led all point guards in blocks despite just 20.4 minutes per game, the bar is going to be set fairly high for the 23 year old.
Jazz talking extension witg Gordon Hayward 08-17-2013
Gordon Hayward G UTH
The Jazz are in talks with Gordon Hayward for a contract extension.

Bill Oram on Twitter
He'll be a restricted free agent after this season with a fairly small qualifying offer of $4.7 million. Hayward could be considered as the favorite to lead the Jazz in scoring this year and will get a lot of shots. Based on how he can hit a bunch of threes and had impressive post-break averages of 1.0 steals and 3.7 assists, the Butler product could break out in his fourth season.
Jazz talking extension with Favors, Hayward 08-17-2013
Derrick Favors F UTH
The Jazz are in discussion on contract extensions for Gordon Hayward and Derrick Favors, according to GM Dennis Lindsey.

Bill Oram on Twitter
Lindsey said that the market will dictate the price, which is hardly a revolutionary idea for GMs. Favors hasn't quite really shown what he can do as a backup, but in his eight starts, he averaged a double-double last season. Now that he's a starer, the 22-year-old big man could have a huge seasons provided that he continues to get better at free throws and cuts down on his fouls. Fantasy owners should keep a very close on eye him.
Tornike Shengelia won't be going to Spain 08-17-2013
Tornike Shengelia F CHI
Tornike Shengelia will not be playing overseas in Spain this season, according to Nets Daily.

Nets Daily
There was a report on Friday night that a Spanish team was trying to pry Shengelia away from the Nets, but that was shot down. He isn't going to get much playing time with the Nets adding a ton of depth in the offseason, so it's not too surprising that rumors would surface.
