Kings work out C Cole Aldrich 08-13-2013
Cole Aldrich C NY
The Kings reportedly worked out free agent center Cole Aldrich recently.

Cowbell Kingdom
Aldrich played sparingly for the Kings last season after being traded to them, but became an unrestricted free agent over the summer. The Kings have 14 guaranteed contracts and might be looking for a partially guaranteed deal for their 15th and last roster spot. Regardless of where Aldrich lands, he'll have no fantasy value this season.
Former Piston Kim English to play in Europe 08-13-2013
Kim English G CHI
Former Piston guard Kim English has reportedly signe with Montepaschi Siena of the Euroleague, according to HoopsHype.

HoopsHype on Twitter
The free agent didn't have many suitors after a rough year with the Pistons and will hope to gain enough experience to make it back to the NBA at some point.

Henry Sims C PHI
Free agent F/C Henry Sims may get an invite to Cavaliers training camp.

Plain Dealer on Twitter
He previously had a 10-day contract with New Orleans and played in the D-League and Philippines last year, so he would be a long shot to make the final roster if he gets and invite.
Andrea Bargnani says he has pneumonia 08-13-2013
Andrea Bargnani C NY
Andrea Bargnani said he has been diagnosed with pneumonia.

Andrea Bargnani on Twitter
Bargnani is trying to make it back in time to play for Italy in September's Eurobasket, but his priority should be the Knicks' training camp in October. Bargnani's NBA reputation is in the toilet after flaming out as the Raptors' franchise player over the last two years.
Wolves want 17-18 ppg from Kevin Martin 08-13-2013
Kevin Martin G MIN
Wolves president Flip Saunders said he's looking for 17-18 points per game out of Kevin Martin.

Associated Press
"I feel I can do that in my sleep," Martin said. We don't doubt it. When he last played for current coach Rick Adelman in 2010-11, Martin averaged 23.5 shots a night. The problem is that Martin's fantasy game always left a lot to be desired because he doesn't block, steal, pass or rebound well. He's also struggled to get to the foul line as his athleticism has waned. Over the last two seasons, Martin has averaged just 3.9 free-throw attempts per game.

Heat get Greg Oden on the cheap 08-13-2013
Greg Oden C MIA
Greg Oden's two-year deal with the Heat is worth just $2.173 million.

Associated Press
It's actually a one-year deal with a player option in year two. So if Oden surprises everyone by sustaining health and contributing to the defending champs, he'll have a chance to get paid much more in 2014-15. Although Oden was able to play three consecutive games of full-court, 4-on-4 last week, he's keeping expectations low. "My body is not going to be (like it was) when I was 18 and able to run all day and jump over people. I can't do that. It's just not going to happen. My knees, the wear and tear, I understand that."
Pekovic has a 4-year, $48M offer from Wolves 08-13-2013
Nikola Pekovic C MIN
The Timberwolves have offered restricted free agent C Nikola Pekovic a four-year, $48 million contract.

Associated Press
Pekovic is trying to hold out for more money, but he has almost no leverage now. At this point in the summer, no one is going to offer him a bigger contract when they know the Wolves can just match anyway. Team president Flip Saunders said Monday that negotiations are "moving in a positive direction." We fully expect a deal to be completed before training camp opens.
Kobe says heel feels 'really, really good' 08-13-2013
Kobe Bryant G LAL
Kobe Bryant said Monday his Achilles' tendon feels "really, really good."

ESPN Los Angeles
Kobe is now four months removed from his rupture. "I was really lucky," he said, hinting at the lack of complications he's had during rehab. When Bryant first went under the knife, he was slapped with a 6-9 month timetable. As of now, he appears on track to meet the front end of that projection and thus has a shot to play Opening Night.
Kobe won't play in 2014 World Championships 08-13-2013
Kobe Bryant G LAL
Kobe Bryant (Achilles) will not play in the 2014 FIBA World Championships in Spain. ƒ?oI love competing but I will let the young guys play and represent the country,ƒ?? Bryant said. It's not a huge surprise, as LeBron James, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony are all expected to sit out. Kobe's current focus is recovering from his Achilles injury.

Andrea Bargnani on Twitter
He is dealing with a respiratory tract infection and his status remains in doubt for the entire tournament. Bargnani is expected to be ready for training camp with New York and should see plenty of minutes at power forward this season.

Gary Forbes G BKN
Free agent Gary Forbes will work out for the Lakers Tuesday.

HoopsHype
Forbes, who played in China last season, is also expected to work out for the Knicks next week. Both teams are just looking to fill out their rosters at this point, although Forbes could see some minutes with the Lakers if Kobe Bryant misses time this season.

Chris Andersen F MIA
Chris Andersen is scheduled to arrive in Taiwan on August 15 to talk to local basketball players.

New York Daily News

Al Harrington says Wizards will make playoffs 08-13-2013
Al Harrington F WAS
Al Harrington said the Wizards will "definitely" make the playoffs this season in an interview Monday night.

Washington Post
"I'm excited and I feel like this team is definitely going to make the playoffs," Harrington said. While nothing is official, he is expected to sign a one-year deal worth the veteran's minimum of $1.4 million if he passes his physical Tuesday. The 33-year-old forward only played 10 games last season for the Magic, and has a lot of work to do before earning fantasy consideration in most leagues.
Kevin Martin comfortable in Adelman's offense 08-13-2013
Kevin Martin G MIN
Timberwolves president Flip Saunders said Kevin Martin is very comfortable in new head coach Rick Adelman's offense.

Minneapolis Star-Tribune
"We're bringing in a guy that, probably outside of Coach Adelman and the three coaches, knows the offense better than anybody," Saunders said. Adelman has coached Martin on both the Kings and the Rockets, and Martin averaged 23.5 points per game and shot 38.3 percent on 3-point shots in Adelman's system in 2010-11. Martin should get more looks on offense this season, and should continue to shoot well from downtown.
Ferry still encouraged with Lucas Nogueira 08-13-2013
Lucas Nogueira C TOR
Hawks general manager Danny Ferry is still "encouraged" with first-round pick Lucas Nogueira.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution
"We are very encouraged by what we've seen from Lucas this summer," Ferry said. "Going back to Estudiantes will allow him to continue develop while also playing meaningful minutes against very good competition. We will closely monitor his progress as he works towards his goals as a basketball player." The 21-year-old big man will play in Spain next season, but the Hawks still have his draft rights. Once he develops, Nogueira has some length and could be a useful player around the basket.
Steven Adams to practice in New Zealand 08-13-2013
Steven Adams C OKC
Steven Adams traveled to New Zealand to practice and host a training camp this upcoming weekend.

Stuff.co.nz
Adams brought Nets center Brook Lopez with him on the trip, and the two have reportedly formed a friendship. The Thunder took Adams 12th overall in this year's draft, but will have to compete for minutes this season. He shouldn't have much fantasy value this season.
Al Jefferson believes in Utah's youth 08-13-2013
Enes Kanter C UTH
Bobcats forward Al Jefferson said he knew the Jazz would not re-sign him because of the young big men behind him last season. "I told my teammates all season, 'Utah would be a fool to bring me back, with Enes [Kanter] and Derrick [Favors].'" Jefferson said. "Them boys are gonna be the truth!" Both Kanter and Favors averaged a double-double in games they started last season, and have tremendous upside as mid-round picks in fantasy leagues this season.
Heat closely monitoring Dwyane Wade's knees 08-13-2013
Dwyane Wade G MIA
According to South Florida Sun-Sentinel's Ira Winderman, the Heat training and coaching staff could come up with a plan to monitor Dwyane Wade's health this season.

South Florida Sun-Sentinel
Wade missed 13 games last season from knee injuries, and had to have his left knee drained before Game 7 of the NBA Finals. Still, with the Heat focused on winning their third consecutive championship, he will likely sit out the second game in back-to-back sets at some point this year. Wade's health should be monitored closely this year, as it could affect his fantasy value.
Nicolas Batum makes French national team 08-13-2013
Nicolas Batum F POR
Nicolas Batum will play for the French national team FIBA EuroBasket tournament in September.

TalkBasket.net
Batum and Spurs guard Tony Parker headline the French roster that will compete in Ljubljana. Look for Batum to build upon his successful season this year.
Goran Dragic hits game winner against Turkey 08-13-2013
Goran Dragic G PHO
Suns guard Goran Dragic scored 16 points and hit a game-winning shot against Turkey for the Slovenian national team on Saturday.

Arizona Republic
After getting ejected from a friendly against Turkey a week ago, Dragic drove the lane to get his revenge and give Slovenia a 55-54 lead with 2.5 seconds to go. With a young team around him, Dragic may have a large offensive role for the Suns this season, even with Eric Bledsoe around.
Archie Goodwin impressing Jeff Hornaeck 08-13-2013
Archie Goodwin G PHO
Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek said that Archie Goodwin can "fly up and down the court."

Suns.com
"He can fly up and down the court," Hornacek said. "You can see his speed and his ability. [When] he catches that ball out near the three point line on a fast break on the wing, it's a one dribble and dunk." Goodwin is expected to play right away and he did himself a huge favor with a strong summer league last month. The Suns have no real reliable option behind Goran Dragic and Eric Bledsoe at the guard spots, so fantasy owners will want to keep an eye on the developments as a possible sixth man for the rebuilding Suns. He's someone to think about at the end of deep fantasy drafts for now.
