Felton tweaks ankle in win over Pacers 05-07-2013
Raymond Felton G DAL
Raymond Felton had 14 points, two 3-pointers and three assists on 5-of-9 shooting before tweaking his ankle in Tuesday's win over the Pacers. He waved off trainers when they wanted to look at it, so we're guessing it's not an injury to worry about. And the fact the Knicks are off until Saturday means we're going to leave him off the injury report for now.
Paul George scores 20 in Game 2 loss 05-07-2013
Paul George G IND
Paul George led the Pacers with 20 points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal and three 3-pointers on 8-of-16 shooting, along with seven turnovers, as the Pacers lost 105-79 in Tuesday's Game 2 in New York. The series is even at 1-1 with Game 3 set for Saturday in Indy. David West (13) and George Hill (12) were the only other Pacers to hit double figures tonight. They entered the fourth quarter down just six points, but were outscored 33-13 in the final stanza and went more than nine minutes in the fourth quarter without scoring a point. They watched the Knicks go on a 36-4 run, and while this is not the outcome the Pacers were looking for, they've got to be happy to leave New York with homecourt advantage in the series.
Carmelo Anthony leads Knicks to Game 2 win 05-07-2013
Carmelo Anthony F NY
Carmelo Anthony hit 13-of-26 shots and two 3-pointers on his way to 32 points, nine boards, three assists and two steals as the Knicks blitzed the Pacers 33-13 in the fourth quarter to even the series at 1-1 with the 105-79 win. Melo was great tonight as the Pacers weren't as physical with him in Game 2. Raymond Felton had 14 points, Iman Shumpert scored 13, Kenyon Martin added 10, while Pablo Prigioni was perfect, hitting 4-of-4 shots and 2-of-2 3-pointers for 10 points, four rebounds and four assists. The Knicks will look to reclaim homecourt advantage on Saturday in Indy for Game 3.
Report: Derrick Rose 'may suit up for Game 3' 05-07-2013
Derrick Rose G CHI
Hoopsworld is reporting that sources in Chicago are suggesting that Derrick Rose "may suit up for Game 3 in Chicago," which doesn't mean he would play, even if he does dress.

Hoopsworld
However, if Rose is in uniform it's possible he could get into the game on Friday, even if it's on an emergency basis. We're still of the belief that Rose is a long shot to play anytime soon, but this is just another teasing reminder that it remains a possibility. Stay tuned.
J.B. Bickerstaff to interview with Rockets 05-07-2013
Joe Dumars G Det
Rockets assistant J.B. Bickerstaff will interview for the Pistons' head-coaching vacancy Wednesday.

Yahoo Sports
J.B. is the 34-year-old son of longtime NBA coach Bernie Bickerstaff. He joins a wide-open candidate list in Detroit that also includes Nate McMillan, Mike Budenholzer and Lindsey Hunter. Bickerstaff has no head-coaching experience at the NBA level.
Steve Novak will dress on Tuesday 05-07-2013

Kirk Hinrich headed for Thursday MRI 05-07-2013
Kirk Hinrich G CHI
Kirk Hinrich (calf) said he expects to get another MRI on Thursday.

Josina Anderson on Twitter
Hinrich is getting some rehab in Tuesday, but is almost certainly out of Wednesday's Game 2. The need for another MRI suggests that the muscle isn't healing as the Bulls had hoped. Nate Robinson is averaging 22.2 points, 5.8 assists and 37.5 minutes a night over the last five games.
Shawn Marion's ETO deadline is June 30 05-07-2013
Shawn Marion F CLE
The deadline for a decision on Shawn Marion's early termination option is believed to be June 30.

ESPN Dallas
Marion has one year and $9.31 million left on his deal. He won't get that much annually if he hits the open market, but he could possibly secure something around a three-year, $16 million deal. At age 35, he'd have to think long and hard about that. Marion averaged 12.1 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists as a defensive stopper for the Mavs this season.
Amare Stoudemire to play 5-on-5 Friday 05-07-2013
Amar'e Stoudemire F NY
Amare Stoudemire (knee) is expected to participate in a full 5-on-5 scrimmage Friday.

New York Post
Stoudemire will play 3-on-3 once again on Wednesday. If all goes well with that, the final test will come on Friday, the day before Saturday's Game 3 against the Pacers. Regardless, Stoudemire hasn't played in a game since March 7. We doubt he'll have a real impact on this series.
Kobe Bryant able to stand without boot 05-07-2013
Kobe Bryant G LAL
Kobe Bryant (Achilles) is now able to stand on his left foot without a walking boot.

Los Angeles Daily News
Bryant is updating his fans on his rehab via Instagram. It's been only 24 days since he was slapped with a 6-9 month timetable following surgery. Bryant is still expected to use the walking boot to get around for at least another month.
Clips meet with CP3, confident he'll re-sign 05-07-2013
Chris Paul G LAC
Clippers VP Gary Sacks met with free agent Chris Paul Saturday and said he's "very confident" that the All-Star point guard will re-sign.

ESPN Los Angeles
Paul is eligible to sign a five-year, $108 million extension with the Clippers beginning on July 1. He may flirt with some other clubs, but in the end we'd be very surprised if CP3 didn't return to the Clips. No one can offer him that kind of money. The main reason he turned down a three-year, $60 million offer last season was because he wanted to hold out for the five-year max contract.
Tim Duncan thinks he'll be fine by Game 2 05-07-2013
Tim Duncan F SA
Tim Duncan (flu) believes he'll be fine by Wednesday's Game 2.

Jeff McDonald on Twitter
Duncan left Monday's Game 1 thriller early and did return briefly in double overtime -- but ended up playing "just" 34 of a possible 58 minutes. Unlike Luol Deng, he's dealing with a common flu bug. Duncan should be more than well enough to start in Game 2 against the Warriors.
Ryan McDonough in as new Phoenix Suns GM 05-07-2013
Goran Dragic G PHO
Ryan McDonough, formerly an assistant GM with the Celtics, has been hired as GM of the Suns.

NBA.com
With previous reports indicating McDonough was the favorite, we're not very surprised. McDonough will have his work cut out for him in the desert, and radio host John Gambadoro reported that the new general manager is very unlikely to keep current head coach Lindsey Hunter on the sidelines. It's a smart hire by the Suns. McDonough will be officially introduced on Thursday.
Update: Luol Deng unlikely to play in Game 2 05-07-2013
Luol Deng F MIA
Updating a previous item, Luol Deng (illness) is out of the hospital and resting at home, but he's not likely to travel to Miami for Game 2 vs. the Heat.

Chicago Bulls on Twitter
To be clear, we don't expect Deng to play. Deng's absence would mean Marco Belinelli starts at shooting guard once again and Jimmy Butler is a near lock to play all 48 minutes as the starting small forward. Deng not being able to travel still speaks volumes about what he's dealing with, and hopefully he'll be ready by the time Game 3 rolls around.
Kirk Hinrich appears doubtful for Game 2 05-07-2013
Kirk Hinrich G CHI
Updating a previous item, Kirk Hinrich (calf) said "nothing has really changed," and he is doubtful for Game 2.

Nick Friedell on Twitter
Hinrich said that his calf still hurts, so we don't expect to see him out there. As we had anticipated, Nate Robinson will be back in the starting role and all eyes will be on Lil' Nate as he continues to defy the odds.
Report: Snyder or Budenholzer to replace Drew 05-07-2013
Pooh Jeter G SAC
The Hawks could replace Larry Drew with either Mike Budenholzer or Quin Snyder, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

ESPN True Hoop
Drew and his staff are reportedly considering themselves "free agents" as they're not expected to be retained by the Hawks. GM Danny Ferry wants to install his own personnel on the bench, leaving little wiggle room for Drew. After it was previously reported Drew would have interest in coaching the Sixers, Stein reports that he's expected to receive consideration with the Sixers.
Report: J.B. Bickerstaff to interview w/ DET 05-07-2013
Greg Monroe C DET
J.B. Bickerstaff has been added to the "list of candidates" for the Pistons head coaching vacancy, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.

ESPN True Hoop
Bickerstaff is an assistant on the Rockets staff, and with Detroit casting a wide net in their search, there is nothing to suggest the team is closing in on its next hire just yet.
Report: Vinny Del Negro's firing 'inevitable' 05-07-2013
Vinny Del Negro G
Vinny Del Negro's dismissal as Clippers head coach is "inevitable," NBA insiders told ESPN's Marc Stein.

ESPN True Hoop
Del Negro's contract expires in June, and while the team has said no decisions have been made, Del Negro's hot seat is getting warmer by the day. The team reportedly wants to go "big" with their next coaching hire, and it's possible Stan Van Gundy's candidacy comes to light in the coming weeks if and when Del Negro is shown the door.
Update: Novak now game-time call Tuesday 05-07-2013
Steve Novak F UTH
Updating a previous item, Steve Novak (back) is now a game-time decision for Tuesday's Game 2 vs. Indiana.

Al Iannazzone on Twitter
Novak was previously expected to be out, but he went through shootaround and is a game-time call as a result. Even if he plays, it isn't likely going to be for an extended period.
Kirk Hinrich still not there, iffy for Game 2 05-07-2013
Kirk Hinrich G CHI
Kirk Hinrich's injured calf is "still not there," and he's very iffy for Game 2 vs. Miami.

Chicago Tribune
Hinrich is making "slow, steady progress," but Tom Thibodeau conceded the point guard just isn't there yet. Hinrich still isn't moving well and it's looking increasingly likely that Nate Robinson will continue to start and play the bulk of the minutes at point guard.
Report: Luol Deng could miss Game 2 as well 05-07-2013
Luol Deng F MIA
Luol Deng (illness) could be in jeopardy of missing Game 2 vs. Miami, but the situation is "fluid," according to the Chicago Tribune.

Chicago Tribune
Deng was originally going to travel to Miami on Sunday, but he opted not to rush after going back to the hospital for an MRI, two sources told the Chicago Tribune. Although he's tested negative for viral meningitis, it's possible Deng won't be cleared to travel on Tuesday and could very well be out for Game 2 after missing Game 1. "He's feeling a little better," Tom Thibodeau said. Deng's status will be evaluated consistently and continually.
Report: Suns want Grant Hill as next GM 05-07-2013
Grant Hill F LAC
ESPN's Marc Stein reports that "rumblings persist" the Suns want to make Grant Hill their next general manager.

Marc Stein on Twitter
It would be an unmitigated disaster if the Suns hire a player on the heels of his retirement to waltz into a general manager's job. The Phoenix roster is an absolute abomination and the team sorely needs someone who has had front office experience. It's unclear how serious the Suns are about hiring Hill or if Hill even has an interest in the job, but Phoenix should be aiming higher.
Ainge expecting Doc Rivers to return to C's 05-07-2013
Doc Rivers F SA
Celtics GM Danny Ainge expects Doc Rivers to return as head coach next season.

Boston Herald
"From all I know Doc will be back," he said. Ainge also added that he and Rivers have discussed the possibility of the Celtics entering a rebuild. "He's known there could be a transition in the course of the contract that he's under," Ainge said. It's a huge offseason in Boston and right now there seem to be more questions than answers.
Amare Stoudemire feeling pain-free in knee 05-07-2013
Amar'e Stoudemire F NY
Amare Stoudemire said that he has "no pain running, jumping, cutting, slashing" on the basketball court.

Newsday
"I felt explosive. The only thing now is getting my wind back up," he said. STAT is still eyeing a return for Game 3 on Saturday assuming he's able to get through this week without any setbacks, and Mike Woodson said he wants the big man to "reprise his role as a go-to guy off the bench."
Jeremy Lin wouldn't mind coming off bench 05-07-2013
Jeremy Lin G LAL
Jeremy Lin revealed that he wouldn't mind coming off the bench next season if he plays the right "role."

CSN Houston
Lin cited Jarrett Jack as an example of a bench player who plays starter's minutes, but it's clear Lin doesn't want to become an afterthought or backup in Houston. "I don't think your role is limited to starting or coming off the bench," he said. "So it just depends." According to CSN Houston, there are "no signs that Lin is headed to the bench."
Steve Novak not expected to play Tuesday 05-07-2013
Steve Novak F UTH
Steve Novak (back) is not expected to play in Game 2 on Tuesday vs. the Pacers.

ESPN New York
Novak is tentatively eyeing a return for Game 3, but it's telling of how bad his back is that he's not even able to get on the floor right now. When he does return, Chris Copeland's spot in the rotation will be in jeopardy.
Mike Woodson fine with Kidd's offense 05-07-2013
Jason Kidd G NY
Mike Woodson is not concerned with Jason Kidd's offense.

ESPN New York
Kidd hasn't scored a single point in his last 137 minutes, but Woodson doesn't care. "Jason is going to be there when it counts," he said. "We haven't played him a lot of big minutes." Kidd said he's not going to change anything on his end and won't force anything, but the Knicks need offensive help for Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith.
Chauncey Billups anticipates being healthy 05-07-2013
Chauncey Billups G DET
Chauncey Billups, who has no intention of retiring, said he anticipates being fully healthy at the start of next season.

NBA.com
Billups wants to play two more seasons, but it's not clear if the Clippers plan to re-sign him. A year removed from Achilles surgery, Billups is just not the player he used to be. "This year was a really, really tough year for me personally," he said.
Report: Chris Paul has front office influence 05-07-2013
Chris Paul G LAC
A Clippers official reportedly told HoopsHype that "This is Chris's roster" in regards to Paul's impending free agency.

HoopsHype
It wouldn't be the first time we've heard that CP3 has definitive sway in the front office. The overwhelming expectation remains that Paul will re-sign with the Clippers, but the point guard said he'd take his time during the offseason and do what was best for his future. It would be a surprise to see him bolt the Clippers for another team.
Carmelo Anthony thinks he's taking good shots 05-07-2013
Carmelo Anthony F NY
Carmelo Anthony said that he feels he's been taking good shots during the last four games.

New York Post
Melo is 35-of-110 over his last four games, good for 31.8 percent, but that doesn't seem to be bothering him. "I feel the shots I'm taking I should take," he said. "I'm going to keep shooting." We really didn't expect Anthony to say anything beyond that, and he'll remain at power forward for Game 2 vs. the Pacers.
Celtics assistant GM heading to Phoenix Suns? 05-07-2013
Goran Dragic G PHO
Celtics assistant GM Ryan McDonough has "gained momentum" to become the Suns next general manager, according to Ken Berger of CBS Sports.

CBS Sports
Berger identifies Bucks assistant GM Jeff Weltman and Spurs executive Scott Layden as other challengers in the ring, but it's been reported previously that it's a fight between McDonough and Weltman for which one gets the job. Whichever candidate is selected will have their work cut out for them.
Report: Mike Malone gaining steam for Sixers 05-07-2013
Jrue Holiday G NO
The Sixers have "conducted a thorough background check" on Warriors assistant Mike Malone, who appears to be the leading candidate for the head coaching job at this time, sources told CBS Sports.

CBS Sports
Malone's name has been kicked around in coaching circles for a while now, and after the Sixers had received permission to interview him, it seems as if the team has legitimate interest in possibly making him their next head coach. However, the report states it's "too early to identify a front-runner," but the front office has contacted the Warriors "multiple times about Malone, including several conversations with consultant Jerry West."
Report: Nets have interest in Doc Rivers 05-07-2013
Doc Rivers F SA
Doc Rivers "would interest" the Nets if he's let out of his contract with the Celtics, a source told ESPN's Chris Broussard.

ESPN New York
It's hard to imagine Rivers leaving the Celtics, and if he did, it would almost certainly on his own volition as Boston has zero reason to fire him. Rivers said that he plans to take some time away before determining whether or not he'll coach next season, but if he does decide to return, it's near impossible to imagine he'd be coaching anywhere else.
Tony Parker scores 28 points with eight dimes 05-07-2013
Tony Parker G SA
Tony Parker didn't shoot the ball well in San Antonio's double-overtime 129-127 win on Monday, making 11-of-26 from the field for 28 points with eight boards, eight assists and three turnovers in 48 minutes. While his overall shooting line wasn't nice, Parker went 3-of-3 from the field in the final 3:31 of regulation to help San Antonio go on a huge 15-0 run to shock the Warriors. Parker had sub-par numbers against the Warriors this year, making 47.2 percent from the field in four regular season games, which is down from his point guard-high 52.2 percent. Parker continues to be clutch and some things never change -- like the playlist for San Antonio's music selection over the past 15 years.
Danny Green lights up GSW for 22 points 05-07-2013
Danny Green G SA
Danny Green shot 8-of-14 from the field for 22 points with one board, one assist, three steals, two blocks and six 3-pointers in 44 minutes against the Warriors on Monday. He has one of the prettiest jumpers in the NBA and Coach Pop made sure Green got plenty of off-ball screens to get him some open looks on the perimeter. Green had a massive season this year and has been a bit unheralded with the Spurs Big Three getting most of the press. The Warriors will have to keep a body on him and deny him from getting the ball or else he's going to be about as annoying as the shrieking lady that was by TNT's microphone in Game 1.
Manu Ginobili hits game winner, scores 16 05-07-2013
Manu Ginobili G SA
Manu Ginobili hit a game-winning 3-pointer with 1.2 seconds left in double-OT on Monday to beat the Warriors, finishing with 16 points, seven boards, 11 assists, one steal and two 3-pointers on 5-of-20 shooting. It wasn't his best game, but Manu made a big play to win it. "I went from trading him on the spot to wanting to cook him breakfast tomorrow," Gregg Popovich said about Ginobili. The play from the sideline got the ball all by himself for a 3-point make and the Warriors were caught sleeping a little. Ginobili played 36 minutes and was very active, so his hamstring injury that has bothered him for much of the second half of the season seemed like a non-issue. The Spurs will look to maintain their home-court advantage on Wednesday in Game 2.
Klay Thompson fouls out after scoring 19 05-07-2013
Klay Thompson G GS
Klay Thompson fouled out in Monday's 129-127 loss to the Spurs, scoring 19 points with five boards, three assists, two steals, one block and two turnovers in 32 minutes. The Warriors really struggled once Klay fouled out with 3:57 left in the fourth quarter. In fact, once he fouled out, the Spurs went on a 15-0 run to get them to the overtime period. Klay doesn't get much credit for doing much besides shooting, but he's a great fundamental player and made some nice cuts to the basket in the loss.
Harrison Barnes has another strong effort 05-07-2013
Harrison Barnes F GS
Harrison Barnes was solid in his 53 minutes of action with 19 points, 12 boards and three 3-pointers on 8-of-14 shooting against the Spurs on Monday. He turned in a big series against the Nuggets with 14.8 points per game, which was up from his regular-season average of 9.2. Barnes and the Warriors played small ball with Draymond Green (10 points, seven boards, two assists, one steal, two blocks and two 3-pointers) getting 38 minutes, as well. Stephen Curry will deservedly get all the headlines for the Warriors making noise, but Barnes has been a big part of their recent success.
Andrew Bogut runs out of gas on Monday 05-07-2013
Andrew Bogut C GS
Andrew Bogut ran out of gas in Monday's loss to the Spurs and had 10 points, 15 boards, four assists, one steal and one block in 37 minutes. The game was played at a fast pace and the Spurs took 105 field goal attempts against the Warriors. Bogut played 27.7 minutes per game in the series against the Nuggets and asking him to play over 32 minutes most likely won't end well for the Warriors due to either fatigue or the risk of injury.
Stephen Curry scores 44 in double-OT loss 05-07-2013
Stephen Curry G GS
Stephen Curry shot 18-of-35 from the field for 44 points in Monday's 129-127 double-overtime loss in San Antonio to go with four boards, 11 assists, two steals and six 3-pointers in 58 minutes. He was up to his usual tricks in the third quarter, scoring 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting. Curry absolutely torched Gary Neal and Cory Joseph, but the Spurs had some success with Kawhi Leonard on him. Curry's passing in this game was also a thing of beauty, but it just wasn't enough as the Warriors choked down the stretch. They'll have a tough time coming back from this one and will try to get a win on Wednesday.
Tim Duncan battles flu in big Game 1 win 05-07-2013
Tim Duncan F SA
Tim Duncan battled the flu in a Game 1 win over the Warriors and finished with 19 points and 11 boards in 34 minutes. He was unofficially called doubtful in the fourth quarter, but did return late in the game for defense. Duncan was dealing with the flu over the weekend, so he apparently still wasn't well. Duncan played well and shot 7-of-8 from the line and his improvement at the line this year was outstanding, making a career high 82 percent of his attempts. Duncan should be better for Game 2 on Wednesday.
