Joakim Noah double-doubles in win over Miami 05-06-2013
Joakim Noah C NY
Joakim Noah double-doubled in Monday's 93-86 win over the Heat with 13 points and 11 boards, while adding four boards, two steals and one block in 39 minutes. As per usual, he was a beast on the offensive glass with five boards on that end and his energy didn't go unnoticed. Noah's performance against the Nets was something else and it's hard to believe he is just a couple weeks from being a game-time decision for games in the first round due to plantar fasciitis. The Heat will have to do a better job keeping Noah in check.
Jimmy Butler goes the distance yet again 05-06-2013
Jimmy Butler G CHI
Jimmy Butler played 48 minutes again during Monday's win over the Heat with 21 points, 14 boards, three assists, one block and two 3-pointers. It was his third game in a row in which he played an entire game and his stamina lately is among the best in postseason history. If you're scoring at home, Wilt Chamberlain set the record for most minutes per game in a series with 49.33 in 1968. Butler's minutes may take a small hit with Luol Deng coming back soon, but his heroic efforts won't be forgotten any time soon.
Nate Robinson scores 27 points in Game 1 win 05-06-2013
Nate Robinson G NO
Nate Robinson scored a game-high 27 points in Game 1's surprising win over the Heat to go with three boards, nine assists, one steal and three 3-pointers on 8-of-16 shooting. He was outstanding in the second half, shooting 7-of-11 from the field for 24 points. The Bulls went on an offensive tear in the fourth quarter with 35 points, which was more than double their second-quarter total of 16 points. The annoying Derrick Rose cloud hanging over Nate probably just got smaller and he's been one of the best players this postseason. As a nice little cherry on top, Nate received 10 stitches on his lip for a laceration.
The bad Bosh shows up on Monday vs. Bulls 05-06-2013
Chris Bosh F MIA
Chris Bosh shot 3-of-10 from the field for nine points with six boards, one assist, one steal and two blocks in 28 minutes. He had a good series against the Bucks, making 53.8 percent from the field, but obviously Tom Thibodeau's Bulls are a much more worthy adversary. Bosh had a solid year against the Bulls in his four games, but he'll need to turn it around a bit for Miami to not get stunned again.
Dwyane Wade still dealing with knee injury 05-06-2013
Dwyane Wade G CHI
Dwyane Wade played 33 minutes in Monday's 93-86 loss to the Bulls with 14 points, two rebounds, four assists, three steals and one block on 7-of-16 from the field. He was aggressive at shooting with ball with 12 of his 16 shots coming from within nine feet, but Wade did show that he was dealing with his knee injury. His three turnovers led the team, but the Heat played their best ball while Wade was on the floor. His knee injury will likely be monitored leading up to Game 2 on Wednesday.
LeBron scores 24 in shocking loss to Chicago 05-06-2013
LeBron James F CLE
LeBron James scored 24 points in Monday's Game 1 loss to the Bulls, while adding eight boards, seven assists, two steals, one block and one 3-pointer in 44 minutes. He was dominant against the Bulls during the regular season, shooting 63.8 percent from the field for 28.0 points per game in his four games against them, so this is a surprising stat line. LeBron just scored two points in the first half and the Heat couldn't get their jumpers to fall before halftime. Amazingly, they only turned the ball over eight times, but they only had 32 points in the paint. After Miami cruised through the first round, they actually have a series on their hands here.
Nate Robinson gets cut on lip Monday 05-06-2013
Nate Robinson G NO
Nate Robinson suffered a laceration on his lip in the first half on Monday's game and the training staff is attempting to patch him up. The TNT broadcast indicated that it was pretty bad and the bleeding hasn't stopped yet. Robinson should get some time to get it treated during halftime and the Bulls will need him. Marquis Teague is the last man left standing at point guard.
Tiago Splitter ruled out for Game 1 vs. GSW 05-06-2013
Tiago Splitter C ATL
Tiago Splitter (ankle) will not play against the Warriors on Monday.

David Aldridge on Twitter
It's a sizable loss for the Spurs and his presence inside would have given San Antonio a nice advantage in the paint. Boris Diaw will get the start and DeJuan Blair should get some minutes. Splitter should be considered questionable for Game 2 on Wednesday.
Dwyane Wade (knee) officially starting Game 1 05-06-2013
Dwyane Wade G CHI
Dwyane Wade (knee) is officially listed as a starter for Game 1 vs. the Bulls.

Ira Winderman on Twitter
Erik Spoelstra did his best to disguise Wade's status leading up to the game, but there was never any doubt that he'd be active. With Kirk Hinrich sidelined by a bruised calf, Wade should have an easier time scoring against Marco Belinelli and the Bulls' depleted backcourt.
Kirk Hinrich (calf) out for Game 1 vs. Heat 05-06-2013
Kirk Hinrich G ATL
Kirk Hinrich (bruised calf) has been ruled out for Monday's Game 1 in Miami.

Chicago Bulls on Twitter
Hinrich has missed four consecutive games with the injury, but he's still listed as day-to-day and could return for Wednesday's Game 2. The Bulls face very long odds without Hinrich and Luol Deng (illness) against the league MVP and a well-rested Heat
Luol Deng (illness) could join Bulls on Tues. 05-06-2013
Luol Deng F LAL
Luol Deng (illness) won't play in Game 1 and the Bulls are "hopeful" that he'll join the team in Miami on Tuesday.

K.C. Johnson on Twitter
Deng continues to improve but he's suffering from complications after a spinal tap, and has experienced everything from severe migraines to general 'grogginess'. His status for Wednesday's Game 2 is up in the air, and his absence ensures heavy minutes for Jimmy Butler and Marco Belinelli.
Ezeli starts at PF in Warriors' practice 05-06-2013
Festus Ezeli C POR
Festus Ezeli replaced Carl Landry as the starting PF during the Warriors' practice on Sunday.

San Francisco Chronicle
This doesn't necessarily mean that Landry will come off the bench, and the availability of Spurs big man Tiago Splitter (ankle) could determine how Golden State matches up. David Lee (hip) will be in uniform but he's only expected to play a few minutes if he takes the court at all.
Marco Belinelli fined for 'obscene gesture' 05-06-2013
Marco Belinelli G CHA
The league has fined Marco Belinelli $15,000 for making an 'obscene gesture' late in Game 7. Belinelli had just made a key 3-pointer to extend Chicago's lead late in the game, and he celebrated by performing the 'big cojones' dance popularized by Sam Cassell. He scored 24 points on Saturday and will get plenty of minutes in Game 1 vs. Miami with Luol Deng (illness) unavailable and Kirk Hinrich (calf) iffy to play.
Cisco Garcia would 'love' to return w/ HOU 05-06-2013
Francisco Garcia G HOU
Francisco Garcia would "love to come back" with the Rockets next season.

Howard Chen on Twitter
It seems doubtful that Houston will pick up his $6.4 million team option, however, so he may have to negotiate a new deal to stay with James Harden and company. Cisco played in 58 games this season, including 20 starts in which he averaged 7.9 points, 1.8 threes, 0.9 steals and 1.1 blocks in a mere 24 minutes per game.
Andrew Bogut (ankle) ready to start Game 1 05-06-2013
Andrew Bogut C DAL
Andrew Bogut (ankle) will start Game 1 on Monday despite being limited during Sunday's practice.

CSN Bay Area
"I think it's important to make sure that Steph [Curry] and Bogut get as much time to recover as possible," said Mark Jackson. Bogut needed an anti-inflammatory shot prior to Game 6 in the first round but has said that he won't have any more palliative shots during the playoffs.
Stephen Curry (ankles) limited in practice 05-06-2013
Stephen Curry G GS
Stephen Curry (ankles) was limited during Sunday's practice but he will play without limitations on Monday.

CSN Bay Area
"[I feel] good enough," Curry said. "[I] have been able to get some swelling out of the ankles and get a little more range of motion in the hamstrings ... but can't expect to feel like it's October again in the middle of May." The Spurs are focused on shutting Curry down with team defense, and his health will go a long way toward deciding the Warriors' fate in the second round.
Nate McMillan 'leading candidate' for Pistons 05-06-2013
Nate McMillan G Sea
Nate McMillan is a "leading candidate" for the Pistons' vacant head coaching job, and he's also scheduled to interview with the Bucks.

Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel
McMillan, who was fired by the Blazers in 2012, has an NBA coaching record of 478-452. Interestingly, Phil Jackson has agreed to advise Pistons president Joe Dumars in the search for a new head coach.
Report: Larry Drew exploring other positions 05-06-2013
Pooh Jeter G SAC
Hawks coach Larry Drew and his staff have "begun exploring other job opportunities," according to Yahoo! Sports.

Yahoo! Sports
There is reportedly a "slim chance" that GM Danny Ferry will retain Drew, whose contract expires this summer. Job performance doesn't seem to be the main issue, as the Hawks made the playoffs every year under Drew despite Joe Johnson's departure, but the Hawks only have three players under contract for 2013-14 and they're looking to change the team's "culture." Drew has already been linked to the 76ers' vacant head coaching job.
Tim Duncan (flu) ready to play Game 1 vs. GSW 05-06-2013
Tim Duncan F SA
Tim Duncan (flu) is healthy and ready to play in Game 1 vs. the Warriors on Monday.

Mike Monroe on Twitter
Duncan sat out Saturday's practice while recovering from the ailment, but it doesn't sound like it will limit him vs. Golden State. Tiago Splitter (ankle) remains a game-time decision, while Boris Diaw (back) is considered probable.
Carmelo shrugs off ongoing shoulder ailment 05-06-2013
Carmelo Anthony F NY
Raymond Felton suggested that the Pacers intentionally targeted Carmelo Anthony's injured shoulder during Game 1, though Melo downplayed the injury.

ESPN New York
"[The shoulder] is not something I'll constantly talk about," said Melo. "I'll deal with it, probably get some treatment for it, and get through it." His status for Game 2 isn't in doubt, but he's shooting just 37.8 percent in the playoffs and needs to improve to even the series at 1-1.
Amare Stoudemire scrimmaging on Monday 05-06-2013
Amar'e Stoudemire F MIA
Amare Stoudemire (knee) was taking part in half court scrimmage on Monday.

Jonah Ballow on Twitter
STAT is eyeing a return for Game 3 of the second round, and if all goes according to plan this week, Stoudemire should be back out on the floor this weekend. Mike Woodson has promised Stoudemire will become an immediate part of the rotation, but it's not clear how that will impact Kenyon Martin or Carmelo Anthony's time at power forward.
Report: Garnett would not waive no-trade 05-06-2013
Kevin Garnett PF MIN
Kevin Garnett reportedly would not waive his no-trade clause this season to be dealt.

Ramona Shelburne on Twitter
Per ESPN LA's Ramona Shelburne, Garnett's refusal to waive his clause was a "big reason" a trade never happened, "but not the only reason." We find it very difficult that Garnett would waive his no trade clause unless he was going to a team where he could instantly contend, and even in that scenario, it would mean the Celtics would have to blow up the roster and potentially get rid of Doc Rivers. Needless to say, it's a big offseason in Boston.
Carl Landry could start Game 1 on Monday 05-06-2013
Carl Landry PF PHI
Beat writer Marcus Thompson expects Carl Landry to start Game 1 vs. the Spurs on Monday.

Marcus Thompson on Twitter
Thompson was "told" that Tiago Splitter (ankle) would start, but he's a game-time decision. Landry is expected to start unless the Spurs revert to a small lineup, so a final decision could come with a different starting five. Stay tuned.
Tiago Splitter a game-time call on Monday 05-06-2013
Tiago Splitter C ATL
Tiago Splitter (ankle) will be a game-time decision vs. the Warriors on Monday.

Mike Monroe on Twitter
Splitter's ankle still isn't all the way right after injuring it in the first round against the Lakers. If Splitter is unable to play, it's possible Boris Diaw will draw the start in his place now that he's back in action.
Boris Diaw probable to play in Game 1 Monday 05-06-2013
Boris Diaw C UTH
Boris Diaw (back) is probable for Monday's Game 1 vs. the Warriors.

Mike Monroe on Twitter
No surprise here after Diaw was expecting to return for the second round. We'd be shocked if he sat out any additional time after going through multiple full contact practices. His presence is vital with Tiago Splitter (ankle) still not 100 percent healthy.
Report: Garnett could need offseason surgery 05-06-2013
Kevin Garnett PF MIN
Kevin Garnett could need offseason surgery on his ankles, team sources told ESPN Boston.

ESPN Boston
Garnett's procedure wouldn't be a major one, but it would be done in order to "shave down the bone spurs in his ankles," according to the report. Two teammates "privately speculated" Garnett is considering retirement, but there is too much at play with both KG and the team to say with certainty one way or the other. The retirement rumors will hover over Garnett until the day he decides to walk away.
Jarvis Varnado no longer has calf injury 05-06-2013
Jarvis Varnado F PHI
Jarvis Varnado (calf) went through shootaround on Monday.

Heat on Twitter
He won't play in the playoffs but now everyone on the Heat is healthy.
Derrick Rose won't play again on Monday 05-06-2013
Derrick Rose G NY
Derrick Rose (knee) will not play on Monday.

Nick Friedell on Twitter
Rose continues to say his status is "up in the air," but he will not play in Game 1 on Monday. Nate Robinson will start if Kirk Hinrich (calf) can't play. Beat writer K.C. Johnson adds that the organization has worked under the assumption that Rose will not play again this season.
Kirk Hinrich to be game-time decision Monday 05-06-2013
Kirk Hinrich G ATL
Kirk Hinrich (calf) is doing slightly better and will be a game-time call for Game 1 vs. Miami.

Nick Friedell on Twitter
If Hinrich can't give it a go, Nate Robinson will be asked to do the heavy lifting at point guard again with Derrick Rose (knee) still out. Rookie Marquis Teague could also see some playing time if Hinrich sits. Even if Hinrich plays, he won't be at full strength.
Luol Deng officially ruled out for Game 1 05-06-2013
Luol Deng F LAL
Luol Deng (illness) has been officially ruled out for Monday's Game 1 vs. Miami.

Nick Friedell on Twitter
Deng is not in Miami with the Bulls. Tom Thibodeau spoke with Deng on Monday morning, and although he's out of the hospital, the doctors still "aren't sure exactly what is wrong." He sounds very questionable for Game 2, meaning Jimmy Butler and Marco Belinelli would be in for extended roles again. On Monday, the Bulls will start Butler at small forward with Belinelli at shooting guard.
Report: Cavs interested in adding Tony Allen 05-06-2013
Tony Allen G MEM
The Cavs are expected to be interested in signing Tony Allen as an unrestricted free agent in the offseason.

Cleveland needs to sorely improve on the defensive end and adding Allen on the wing would be a good start. It's not clear if Allen would even be interested in playing for the Cavs, but we'd expect him to draw several offers on the open market.
Jason Terry wants clarity in his role w/ C's 05-06-2013
Jason Terry G MIL
Jason Terry wants his role to be "defined" next season with the Celtics.

Boston Herald
Terry dismissed the notion of retirement. "I have to get back to Sixth Man of the Year form," he said. Terry was a disappointment for the majority of Boston's season, and put bluntly, he'll need to play better in order to regain his previous form.
Nuggets hoping to retain Andre Iguodala 05-06-2013
Andre Iguodala G GS
GM Masai Ujiri confirmed the Nuggets would like to keep Andre Iguodala long term.

Denver Post
Iguodala is expected to opt out of the final year on his deal, but Denver wants him back. "Andre was a great fit, we felt," Ujiri said. "He brings every aspect of the game to the table, be it defending, passing, leadership and scoring sometimes. For us, he grew with the team. I think he saw that. He's a good priority for us."
Report: Courtney Lee fuming about demotion 05-06-2013
Courtney Lee G NY
Courtney Lee was privately "chafing" at the idea that he was benched in favor of guys like Jordan Crawford and Terrence Williams.

Boston Herald
Can you blame him? Lee shot 46.4 percent from the field including 37.2 percent from behind the 3-point line, but he struggled to grasp Doc Rivers' schemes and was not a part of the playoff rotation. After signing a four-year deal in the 2012 offseason, Lee's name will be in trade rumors after his first season with the Celtics.
Nuggets confident Ujiri isn't going anwywhere 05-06-2013
Ty Lawson G SAC
The Nuggets are confident that they'll be able to retain GM Masai Ujiri.

Ujiri flirted with the Sixers last summer, but nothing ever came of it. Although the GM's contract is set to expire during the summer, team president Josh Kroenke anticipates Ujiri will remain in Denver.
Report: Bucks to interview McMillan, Sampson 05-06-2013
Nate McMillan G Sea
The Bucks will interview Nate McMillan and Kelvin Sampson for their head coaching vacancy, sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Yahoo! Sports
The Bucks should exhaust every possible option to fill their head coaching position, and it looks like they'll do exactly that. Both McMillan and Sampson are being courted by several teams and each will likely interview multiple times before making any kind of final decision.
Minutes will play role in Blatche's decision 05-06-2013
Andray Blatche F BKN
Andray Blatche hinted that playing time will play a role in whether or not he re-signs with the Nets.

New York Daily News
GM Billy King does not anticipate Blatche commanding more than the veteran's minimum on the open market, but that's not certain. "Just getting the right minutes, really and playing helping out," Blatche said when asked about his role. "I played the 4 my whole career." If Blatche is looking for a starting role, he might be looking for a while.
Devin Harris to get another PRP toe injection 05-06-2013
Devin Harris G DAL
Devin Harris will get another PRP injection in his ailing toe.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Harris' left toe bothered him for almost all of the season, and after another injection, Harris plans to simply rest to let the injury calm down. As for his future, Harris would not commit to returning to the Hawks, a sentiment that may be mutual as Atlanta enters the offseason.
Zaza Pachulia wants to return to Atlanta 05-06-2013
Zaza Pachulia C GS
Zaza Pachulia said he'd like to re-sign with the Hawks.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution
"How can I not (want to be back)," Pachulia said. "I've been here eight years. I call Atlanta home." Pachulia is coming off of surgery for a partially torn Achilles tendon, but he should generate plenty of interest in free agency as a very capable backup big man off the bench who could start in a pinch.
Brian Shaw to get a look from Brooklyn Nets 05-06-2013
Brian Shaw G LAL
The Nets are expected to interview Brian Shaw for their vacant head coaching position.

New York Daily News
It's about time Shaw gets his chance as a head coach and he could have it as early as this offseason. Although he's not expected to interview for any position until the Pacers season ends, he'll be a hot commodity on the coaching market. The Nets are expected to reach out to a variety of candidates in an extensive search.
Lou Williams' knee rehab coming along 'great' 05-06-2013
Lou Williams G LAL
Lou Williams (knee surgery) said that his rehab is "coming along great."

Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Williams called the summer a big one for himself, referring to it as a "challenge that I'm ready for." Williams still can't even jog, so he's got a long ways to go before he's ready to play. Williams was able to ride a stationary bike without knee pain for the first time last week and is also doing stand-still shooting, but he's got several hurdles left to clear.
Larry Drew wants to learn his future soon 05-06-2013
Pooh Jeter G SAC
Larry Drew indicated that he'd like to learn his status with the Hawks "sooner rather than later."

Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Drew does "not want the process to linger," and he also said he'd like to continue coaching if he's let by go the Hawks. It's been reported that Drew would have interest in the Sixers head coaching position if he winds up out in Atlanta.
Hawks would like to bring back Kyle Korver 05-06-2013
Kyle Korver G CLE
The Hawks have "indicated" that they'd like to re-sign Kyle Korver.

Chris Vivlamore on Twitter
Atlanta is rich with cap space and will be entering a huge offseason, and keeping Korver on a reasonable deal seems like a beneficial move for both sides. However, Korver will be in demand after nailing 2.6 3-pointers per game and doing so at a 45.7 percent clip, so the Hawks could just as easily lose him to another team.
David Lee (hip) could avoid offseason surgery 05-06-2013
David Lee F SA
David Lee (hip) could avoid offseason surgery to repair his torn hip flexor.

San Antonio Express-News
Lee will be active for Game 1, but it's not clear if he'll play. He said previously he'd have surgery, but he's since backtracked. "It's torn and will probably require surgery when the season's over, but I've gotten the green light to do what I can until that point," he said. It seems like surgery is still very much in play, but that hasn't been decided with certainty. If Lee suits up for any time during the second round series against the Spurs, he's not expected to play a big role whatsoever.
Pendergraph earns first playoff flop fine 05-06-2013
Jeff Pendergraph F SA
Jeff Pendergraph has earned the first fine for flopping in the playoffs this season.

Indianapolis Star
Congratulations to Mr. Pendergraph on the prestigious award. The backup big man will be fined $5,000 for his first offense in the postseason and would be facing additional penalty if he's guilty again at any point during the rest of the season.
Lance Stephenson drawing big time praise 05-06-2013
Lance Stephenson G MIN
Lance Stephenson has been drawing praise from his teammates for his play during the postseason.

Indianapolis Star
"Lance, for the past three games, has been one of our best players," Paul George said. Stephenson had 11 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and three steals on Sunday and has played well during the playoffs. He's grabbed at least 11 rebounds three times and Frank Vogel said Stephenson is "learning discipline." "I'm trying to get every rebound possible," Stephenson said. "If I do that we're unstoppable."
Kirk Hinrich (calf) 'clearly in pain' still 05-06-2013
Kirk Hinrich G ATL
Kirk Hinrich (calf) is "clearly in pain" when attempting to do basketball work and is questionable to play in Game 1 on Monday vs. Miami.

CSN Chicago
Hinrich tried to give it a go for Game 7 against Brooklyn, but he couldn't do much beyond take spot-up jumpers. It doesn't sound like he's got a great chance to suit up for the first game vs. the Heat, and if that's the case, Nate Robinson would be tasked with holding down the fort at point guard again. Rookie Marquis Teague could see some action as well.
Clippers to 'explore all options' with coach 05-06-2013
Vinny Del Negro G
The Clippers will reportedly "explore all options" as it relates to Vinny Del Negro's future as the team's head coach.

Ken Berger on Twitter
Del Negro is waiting to learn his fate and doesn't seem all that concerned, and while the team is expected to take a little while to decide which direction they'll go in, a first round playoff exit doesn't bode well for Del Negro's future. You can be sure the Clippers will get Chris Paul's opinion even before he potentially commits to re-signing with the team. Del Negro remains on the hot seat.
Dwyane Wade expected to start in Game 1 05-06-2013
Dwyane Wade G CHI
Dwyane Wade (knee) is expected to play in Game 1 vs. Chicago on Monday.

Ira Winderman on Twitter
Erik Spoelstra has been cryptic with Wade's health, but beat writer Ira Winderman reports Wade will start on Monday as expected. Wade's knee is worth monitoring as the playoffs move forward, but he's in no danger of missing any time right now.
