Craig Kimbrel P ATL
Craig Kimbrel picked up his 34th save in Sunday night's win over the Phillies. He allowed one hit, but was able to get through the outing without any further damage. Kimbrel hasn't given up a run over his last 30 innings and has converted each of his past 24 save opportunities.
Wood shuts down Phillies for quality start 08-04-2013
Alex Wood P ATL
Alex Wood gave up just one run over six innings in his start on Sunday night against the Phillies. It was another solid effort from Wood, who was making his fourth start of the season. He limited the Phillies to just two hits, two walks, and finished with three strikeouts. After putting together two straight impressive outings, he could remain in the Braves' rotation even when Paul Maholm returns from the DL. Wood will take a 3.20 ERA into his next start Saturday against the Marlins.
B.J. Upton collects two hits on Sunday night 08-04-2013
B.J. Upton CF ATL
B.J. Upton went 2-for-4 with a double in Sunday night's win against the Phillies. Upton had a home run called back in the fourth inning or he would of had an even bigger night. He now has a hit in back-to-back games after going 1-for-5 in his return from the DL on Saturday, but is still batting just .182/.270/.304 with eight steals over 286 at-bats.
Cliff Lee takes loss on Sunday night 08-04-2013
Cliff Lee P PHI
Cliff Lee allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits over five innings in Sunday night's loss to the Braves. He gave up two walks and had eight strikeouts. Colby Lewis P TEX
Colby Lewis (elbow) will move his rehab assignment to Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday

Clay Buchholz throws at 80 percent intensity 08-04-2013
Clay Buchholz P BOS
Clay Buchholz (shoulder) threw at "about 80 percent intensity" Sunday.

RedSox.mlb.com
Buchholz is currently limited to flat-ground work, but could be close to being cleared for a bullpen session. "The highest intensity I've thrown was today," Buchholz said. "It was to the point where I'm not hoping or thinking something's going to happen. I'm able to let loose more right now, and even if it's only four throws that's encouraging for me."
Harrison (back) makes second rehab start 08-04-2013
Matt Harrison P TEX
Matt Harrison (back) allowed one run over 3 2/3 innings in second rehab start Sunday for Double-A Frisco.

Jeff Wilson on Twitter
Harrison was cleared for a rehab assignment Wednesday and hasn't had any setbacks. He'll likely need another 2-3 starts in the minors before he returns from the disabled list.
Getz (knee) set for rehab assignment Monday 08-04-2013
Chris Getz 2B TOR
Chris Getz (knee) will begin a rehab assignment Monday with Triple-A Omaha.

Washington Post
Werth was hit by a pitch by on check-swing foul ball in Sunday's loss, but managed to stay in the game. The x-rays came back negative and he expects to play Monday against the Braves.
Betancourt could throw bullpen session Friday 08-04-2013
Rafael Betancourt P COL
Rafael Betancourt (appendicitis) could throw a bullpen session Friday.

Denver Post
It will be Betancourt's first time throwing from a mound since being placed on the disabled list. The 38-year-old right-hander is on track to return in mid-August.
Carlos Gonzalez (finger) likely headed to DL 08-04-2013
Carlos Gonzalez LF COL
Carlos Gonzalez (finger) is expected to be placed on the disabled list.

Denver Post
Gonzalez missed the last three games after aggravating his sprained right middle finger and suffered a setback in his final at-bat Sunday. The Rockies will reevaluate him Monday before making a decision on whether he'll need to go on the DL. Josh Rutledge will likely be recalled to replace him on the active roster.
Morneau goes 2-for-4 with a two-run homer 08-04-2013
Justin Morneau 1B COL
Justin Morneau went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Sunday's 3-2 victory against the Astros. Morneau has recorded three multi-hit games during his current five-game hitting streak. During that stretch, he's smacked four extra-base hits, including two homers. The big first baseman finally looks comfortable after playing this season under constant speculation that he'd be traded. Of course, Minnesota couldn't find a deal for him prior to Wednesday's deadline. If Morneau keeps mashing like this -- he's 7-for-17 (.412) with two doubles, two homers and four RBI over four August games -- Minnesota may be able to find a taker for their long-time star via a waiver trade this month.
Perkins earns 27th save of the season 08-04-2013
Glen Perkins P MIN
Glen Perkins earned his 27th save by tossing a scoreless ninth inning against the Astros on Sunday. He allowed a single and struck out a batter. Perkins was one of Minnesota's only valuable trade assets at the deadline, but the Twins elected to hang onto their closer. The left-hander is signed cheaply through 2016 and boasts a 2.05 ERA and 0.93 WHIP. He's 27-for-30 in save conversions.
Pelfrey surrender 2 runs in no-decision 08-04-2013
Mike Pelfrey P MIN
Mike Pelfrey surrendered two earned runs on seven hits over five innings Sunday in a no-decision against the Astros. He struck out four and walked three. Pelfrey has dropped his ERA from 6.66 to 5.23 since the beginning of June, but he's dropped off recently, allowing six runs in nine innings over two starts. The big right-hander is 4-9 with a poor 1.57 WHIP.
Derek Jeter's MRI shows mild calf strain 08-04-2013
Derek Jeter SS NYY
An MRI of Derek Jeter's right calf showed a mild strain.

Andy McCullough on Twitter
The Yankees have yet to decide whether Jeter will be placed on the disabled list. Manager Joe Girardi said it's possible he could continue playing through the setback, but his status for Monday's game is now up in the air. Jeter has appeared in just five games this season due to various injuries.
Peacock strikes out 10 in loss to Twins 08-04-2013
Brad Peacock P HOU
In his return to the majors, Brad Peacock struck out 10 and allowed three runs over seven innings in a loss to the Twins on Sunday. Recalled earlier in the day, he gave up four hits and two walks. All three runs charged to Peacock came via homers. Take away the mistake pitches to Justin Morneau and Oswaldo Arcia, however, and Peacock was sensational. This was a strong bid to remain in the rotation for the rest of the year. Although Peacock struggled at the big league level earlier this season, he posted a stellar 2.73 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 76/22 K/BB ratio in 79 innings at Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Cabrera collects two hits in final game 08-04-2013
Everth Cabrera SS SD
Everth Cabrera went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI in Sunday's win over the Yankees. Cabrera is expected to be suspended for his connection to Biogensis on Monday, so it was likely his final game of the season. He'll finish 2013 with a .283/.355/.381 batting line, 37 steals, and 31 RBI over 381 at-bats.
Henderson earns 15th save against the Nats 08-04-2013
Jim Henderson P MLW
Jim Henderson earned his 15th save by tossing a perfect ninth inning against the Nationals on Sunday. Henderson, who moved back into the closer's role after Francisco Rodriguez was shipped to Baltimore, hasn't allowed a run over his last nine appearances. The hard-thrower has also struck out at least one batter in eight consecutive outings. Henderson's fantasy value is diminished a bit by pitching for the awful Brewers, but he has done his part with a 1.94 ERA and 1.08 WHIP.
Lohse allows two earned runs in no-decision 08-04-2013
Kyle Lohse P MLW
Kyle Lohse allowed three runs -- two earned -- over five innings in a no-decision against the Nationals on Sunday. He struck out two and allowed five hits and a walk. Milwaukee chose to hang onto the veteran past the trading deadline despite ample league-wide interest. The decision wasn't surprising, as Lohse has given the Brewers a stellar 3.23 ERA and 1.13 WHIP through his first 23 starts.
Juston Street picks up 21st save 08-04-2013
Huston Street P LAA
Huston Street picked up his 21st save in Sunday's win over the Yankees. Street allowed two baserunners, but was able to strike out the side and didn't give up any runs. The 30-year-old closer now has a 3.47 ERA and 1.16 WHIP.
Ian Kennedy gets first win with Padres 08-04-2013
Ian Kennedy P SD
Ian Kennedy gave up two runs on four hits over 5 2/3 innings Sunday in a win over the Yankees. Kennedy was making his first start with the Padres after being acquired at the trade deadline. He allowed four walks in the outing, but managed six strikeouts and was given plenty of run support. Kennedy should continue to benefit from the pitcher-friendly environment at PETCO. His next start Saturday vs the Reds.
Jordan slammed for four runs in loss to Crew 08-04-2013
Taylor Jordan P WAS
Taylor Jordan was touched for four runs on four hits over 5 1/3 innings in Sunday's loss to the Brewers. Exactly one week after earning his first major league win by beating the Mets, Jordan turned in a dud, the second time in three starts that he's allowed four earned runs. Jordan (1-3, 3.76 ERA) could be as few as two starts from the end of his season. Jordan, who was limited to 54 1/3 frames last season in his first year back from Tommy John surgery, has hurled 11 1/3 frames since Nationals manager Davey Johnson said he would shut the youngster down after about 20-30 more innings.
Hughes lasts just 2 2/3 innings in loss 08-04-2013
Phil Hughes P MIN
Phil Hughes lasted just 2 2/3 innings in Sunday's loss to the Padres It was the eighth time this season that Hughes failed to go at least five innings. He gave up three walks and had just one strikeout before being pulled at 71 pitches and continues to struggle with his consistency after posting a 1-2 recored and 3.86 ERA in July. Hughes will make his next start Saturday against the Tigers.
A-Rod to play while appealing suspension 08-04-2013
Alex Rodriguez 3B NYY
Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that Alex Rodriguez is expected to be in the Yankees' starting lineup Monday.

Joel Sherman on Twitter
In other words, MLB won't be invoking it's "best interests" clause that would prevent A-Rod from playing while appealing his suspension. Rodriguez is still expected to be suspended through the 2014 season, but he won't have to begin serving it immediately due to the lengthy appeals process.
OF Myers blasts a two-run homer in win 08-04-2013
Wil Myers RF TB
Wil Myers smacked a two-run homer and walked twice in Tampa Bay's 4-3 win against San Francisco on Sunday. He's hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games and has reached safely in every contest he's played since July 8. Myers entered play on Sunday batting a ridiculous .413/.472/.739 over 46 second-half at-bats. He's hitting .329 with eight homers and 30 RBI over his first 39 big league games. Myers is obviously a must-start in all fantasy formats.
Rodney earns 27th save with perfect inning 08-04-2013
Fernando Rodney P SEA
Fernando Rodney worked a perfect inning against the Giants on Sunday, preserving a one-run lead and earning his 27th save of the season. He struck out one in the 11-pitch outing. Rodney has fallen off greatly since his historic 2012 season, but he's been hot recently. The right-hander has given up a run in just one of his last 18 appearances since June 15 to slash his ERA from 5.40 to 3.74.
Buehrle charged with five runs in no-decision 08-04-2013
Mark Buehrle P TOR
Mark Buehrle was charged with five runs on seven hits over six innings in Sunday's win over the Angels. Buehrle was coming off two straight quality starts and hadn't allowed a run over his last 20 innings, but was overmatched by the Angels' lineup. He gave up two home runs -- including a three-run shot to Mark Trumbo in the fourth inning -- and finished with two walks and four strikeouts in the no-decision. Buehrle will look to get back on track in his next start Saturday vs. Oakland.
Moscoso surrenders 3 runs in no-decision 08-04-2013
Guillermo Moscoso P SF
Guillermo Moscoso surrendered three runs on four hits over 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Rays on Sunday. He struck out three, walked four and allowed a two-run homer to Wil Myers in the first inning. Moscoso, who took the rotation spot of Barry Zito, entered the game with a 4.19 ERA over 24 starts and 34 relief appearances in the majors. He's not worth the hassle in fantasy.
Trumbo hits three-run homer in loss 08-04-2013
Mark Trumbo LF ARZ
Mark Trumbo hit a three run homer in Sunday's loss to Toronto. The home run came off Mark Buehrle in the fourth inning and was his only hit of the night. Trumbo is still batting just .167 (5-for-30) over his last seven games.
Mike Trout doubles, hits 18th home run 08-04-2013
Mike Trout CF LAA
Mike Trout went 2-for-2 with a home run Sunday in a loss to the Blue Jays. Trout hit a solo shot in the first inning and later doubled and added two walks. It was just his third home run since the All-Star break and 18th of the season. Trout is batting .329/.419/.568 over 426 at-bats and ranks third in the American League with 77 runs.
Wilson gives up three runs in no-decision 08-04-2013
C.J. Wilson P LAA
C.J. Wilson allowed three earned runs on eight hits over 7 1/3 innings in Sunday's loss the Blue Jays. It was a solid bounce back effort from Wilson, who was roughed up for six runs in his last outing. He didn't give up any walks and had seven strikeouts, but was hit with a no-decision after the Angels' bullpen was unable to hold a two run lead. Wilson will take a 3.48ERA and 1.33 WHIP into his next start Saturday against the Indians.
Martin slams a 3-run homer in win over Rox 08-04-2013
Russell Martin C PIT
Russell Martin helped the Pirates to a 5-1 victory over the Rockies on Sunday by blasting a three-run homer. It was his only hit of the game. The 357-foot shot to left welcomed Manny Corpas, who relieved Juan Nicasio, into the game. Martin sat out Saturday because Pittsburgh is trying to give him sporadic rest to counter a chronic knee injury. With backup Michael McKenry out for the season with his own knee injury, don't expect Martin to sit much more over the final two months. Martin, batting .252, is on pace for 15 homers and 60 RBI.
Burnett fans nine in complete-game win 08-04-2013
A.J. Burnett P PHI
A.J. Burnett struck out nine and allowed one run in a complete-game win against the Rockies on Sunday. He walked one and scattered eight hits in his first complete-game of the season (and 23rd of his career). Burnett befuddled the NL's third-best offense, recording 15 ground ball outs (against just two fly ball outs) and holding Colorado without an extra-base hit. The Rockies scratched out a meaningless run in the seventh on two singles and a wild pitch when they already trailed 5-0. Burnett (5-7) is ninth in the NL with 141 strikeouts and eighth with a 2.73 ERA.
Holland shuts down Oakland for ninth win 08-04-2013
Derek Holland P TEX
Derek Holland threw eight scoreless innings in Sunday's win over Oakland. It was a dominant performance from Holland, who gave up just four hits and finished with 10 strikeouts. He now has seven quality starts of his last eight outings and currently owns a 3.02 ERA. Holland will have a plus matchup in his next start Saturday against the Astros.
Nicasio allows four runs in loss to Buccos 08-04-2013
Juan Nicasio P COL
Juan Nicasio allowed four runs on six hits over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Pirates on Sunday. He struck out four and walked three. Nicasio posted a spectacular 0.47 ERA in his first three starts after being recalled from Triple-A on July 12, but he has come back to earth by surrendering 12 runs over 8 1/3 frames in two starts since. Nicasio matched up against the Dodgers, Cubs and Marlins in those first three starts, while he's faced much stiffer competition -- on the road against Atlanta and Pittsburgh -- during his struggles. The right-hander falls to 6-6 with a 5.05 ERA. Nicasio is not to be trusted in fantasy.
Nelson Cruz homers for only hit of night 08-04-2013
Nelson Cruz LF BAL
Nelson Cruz went 1-for-4 with a home run Sunday against the Athletics. Cruz homered off A.J. Griffin in the second inning for his only hit of the night. The 33-year-old is expected to be suspended by MLB on Monday, so this could be his last game of the season. If Cruz doesn't appeal his suspension, he'll finish 2013 with a .269/.330/.511 batting line, 27 home runs, and 76 RBI.
Griffin allows three runs in loss to Rangers 08-04-2013
A.J. Griffin P OAK
A.J. Griffin allowed three runs on five hits over 6 2/3 innings in Sunday's loss to the Rangers. Griffin managed to get a quality start, but continues to struggle with home runs -- giving up a solo shot to Nelson Cruz in the second inning and a three-run homer to Mitch Moreland in the seventh. Despite pitching in a pitcher-friendly ballpark, he currently leads the majors with 28 home runs allowed. Griffin now has a 3.91 ERA and 1.10 WHIP over 147 1/3 innings this season.
New closer Farquhar earns 2nd save in 2 days 08-04-2013
Danny Farquhar P SEA
Danny Farquhar earned his second save in as many days as the Mariners bested the Orioles on Sunday. And for the second consecutive day, Farquhar earned a save without allowing a base runner. It's been a fascinating ride for the native Floridian. On July 19, Farquhar's roster spot was in jeopardy with a 7.61 ERA. He's hurled seven consecutive scoreless appearances since, covering 10 2/3 innings. Tom Wilhelmsen was yanked from the closer's job Thursday, when he surrendered four runs without recording an out against Boston. Farquhar will continue to operate the ninth inning in Seattle until he fails. Despite a still-terrible 5.09 ERA, the right-hander owns a spectacular 53/14 K/BB rate over 35 1/3 frames. He needs to be owned in all formats.
Saunders beats former team on Sunday 08-04-2013
Joe Saunders P KC
Joe Saunders allowed two runs on eight hits over six innings as the Mariners beat the Orioles on Sunday. He struck out two and walked two. Baltimore reportedly pursued Saunders as a trade target last week, but pulled back when they acquired Bud Norris from the Astros. Sunday marked an atypical Saunders outing, decent but not stellar. He's been a feast-or-famine hurler this year, allowing one or no runs 10 times out of 23 starts and six or more runs on eight occasions. Saunders improves to 10-10 with a 4.58 ERA.
Chen allows 3 runs on five hits over 08-04-2013
Wei-Yin Chen P BAL
Wei-Yin Chen surrendered three runs on five hits over seven innings in a loss to the Mariners on Sunday. He struck out five and walked three. Chen was in line for a victory, protecting a 2-1 lead, before he gave up a two-run homer to Henry Blanco with two outs in the seventh. He's given up three runs in each of his last three outings and has posted five straight quality starts. The lefty now has a 6-4 record and 2.95 ERA in 13 starts this season.
Drew goes 2-for-3 with 2 runs in victory 08-04-2013
Stephen Drew SS BOS
Stephen Drew finished 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs in Sunday's win against the Diamondbacks. During his five-game hitting streak, Drew has recorded four multi-hit games to inflate his batting average from .226 to .244. If you toss out his average, Drew is producing at roughly his career offensive pace in 2013. He is the type of shortstop that owners should target on the waiver wire if they happen to currently own Jhonny Peralta or Everth Cabrera.
Doubront spins 7 shutout innings in victory 08-04-2013
Felix Doubront P BOS
Felix Doubront spun seven shutout innings in Sunday's victory against the Diamondbacks. He struck out five, walked none and scattered five hits. Because of his stuff, Doubront has the ability to toss a gem every time he takes the mound. Since mid-June, he's allowed only 13 runs over nine starts. Consistency -- and elevated pitch counts -- have both been problems, but the left-hander nevertheless stands 8-5 with a solid 3.56 ERA and 1.37 WHIP.
Hanley Ramirez dealing with jammed shoulder 08-04-2013
Hanley Ramirez SS LAD
Hanley Ramirez left Sunday's game with a jammed right shoulder.

Dylan Hernandez on Twitter
Ramirez suffered the injury after he fell into the stands while catching a foul ball and had to be removed from the game. As of now, it's not clear whether he'll need to be placed on the disabled list. The Dodgers will provide an update on his status after he undergoes an MRI on Monday.
McCarthy allows 2 runs over 4 1/3 innings 08-04-2013
Brandon McCarthy P NYY
In his return to the rotation, Brandon McCarthy allowed two runs over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to Boston on Sunday. McCarthy gave up five hits, striking out five and walking three. He was doomed for an early afternoon after hurling 27 pitches in the first inning, but we were encouraged by the movement of his secondary stuff after a long layoff. The right-hander had been on the shelf since late May due to a chronic shoulder issue. He falls to 2-5 with a 4.94 ERA.
Martinez goes 2-for-3 with 2 walks in win 08-04-2013
Victor Martinez DH DET
Victor Martinez went 2-for-3 with two walks and a run scored in Sunday's 3-2, 12-inning victory against the White Sox. He went 0-for-7 in the series' first two games. V-Mart was positively dreadful in April and May, but a respectable June led to an onslaught in July in which the veteran catcher slashed .390/.429/.581 and collected 20 RBI in 105 at-bats. He entered play on Sunday batting .339/.362 /.482 in the second half. Martinez needs to be active in all formats while he's scorching hot.
Dunn collects four hits and a homer in loss 08-04-2013
Adam Dunn DH CWS
Adam Dunn finished 4-for-5 with a solo homer in Sunday's loss to the Tigers. Dunn's second four-hit game of the season spiked his batting average from .218 to .226. The slugger's awful averages have always hurt his fantasy value, but he's still on pace for 39 homers and 100 RBI. Dunn's 26 bombs rank fifth in the American League.
Porcello posts sixth straight quality start 08-04-2013
Rick Porcello P DET
Rick Porcello restricted the White Sox to just one run over 7 2/3 innings in a no-decision on Sunday. He allowed eight hits and a walk, striking out four. The only damage Porcello sustained was a 4th-inning solo homer by Adam Dunn. This afternoon's gem was the right-hander's sixth consecutive quality start. Over his last 12 outings dating back to the end of May, Porcello has given up three or fewer runs 10 times. That stretch has lowered his ERA by exactly two runs, from 6.28 to 4.28.
Rienzo surrenders 2 runs over 6 innings in ND 08-04-2013
Andre Rienzo P CWS
Andre Rienzo surrendered two runs over six innings in a no-decision against the Tigers on Sunday. He struck out three and walked three. Rienzo is enjoying a nice start to his career; including Tuesday's debut against the Indians in which he allowed three runs -- none earned -- in seven innings, he's posted consecutive quality starts. The 25-year-old right-hander, who took Jake Peavy's spot in the rotation, boasts a 1.38 ERA and 1.15 WHIP over 13 frames.

Matt Thornton P NYY
Matt Thornton was removed from Sunday's game with a right oblique issue.

Gomes goes 3-for-4 with a run in victory 08-04-2013
Yan Gomes C CLE
Yan Gomes finished 3-for-4 with a run scored in the Indians' 2-0 win over the Marlins on Sunday. Sao Paulo, Brazil is known more for producing martial artists than baseball players, but MLB, and not the UFC, is enjoying the city's most recent athletic export. Despite not being an everyday player, Gomes is hitting .310/.345/.529 this season. The 26-year-old catcher has seven homers and 26 RBI over 155 at-bats. Gomes has registered multi-hit games in each of his last six starts and needs to be owned in AL-only formats.
Kazmir hurls 6 shutout innings in victory 08-04-2013
Scott Kazmir P OAK
Scott Kazmir twirled six shutout innings, scattering just two hits, to beat the Marlins on Sunday. He didn't have much trouble in South Beach, striking out seven and walking two. Kazmir has held opposing offenses to two runs or less in seven of his last nine starts. The lefty hasn't suffered a loss since June 10. He improves to 7-4 with a 3.89 ERA and 1.25 WHIP through 20 starts.

Nathan Eovaldi P MIA
Nathan Eovaldi handcuffed the Indians to one run on seven hits over seven innings in Sunday's 2-0 loss. He struck out two and walked one in the tough-luck defeat, Eovaldi's third consecutive quality start. Eovaldi wasn't as sharp as his counterpart, Scott Kazmir, who held Miami's weak offense scoreless over six frames. In nine starts this season, Eovaldi (2-2, 3.19 ERA) has given up three runs or less eight times.
Tigers send down RHP Evan Reed 08-04-2013

Mike Moustakas went 2-for-4 with a walk and a solo home runs in a win over the Mets on Sunday. Moustakas had gone 0-for-10 with four strikeouts in Kansas City's first two games against the Mets. The third baseman has been relatively productive since June. He posted an .830 OPS last month, with four homers over 75 at-bats. If you believe in his resurgence, grab him in mixed leagues immediately. If Moustakas keeps hitting, he won't be available much longer.

The Royals elected to retain the free-agent-to-be past the trade deadline in an attempt to make a late push for a postseason entry. At 56-52, Kansas City is right in the thick of contention. Santana has done his part, going 8-6 with a 2.97 ERA and 1.07 WHIP.
Wheeler struggles in loss to KC Royals 08-04-2013
Zack Wheeler P NYM
Zack Wheeler scuffled in a Sunday afternoon outing against the Royals, giving up four runs -- three earned -- on five hits over five innings. He struck out five and walked five in the loss, running up 101 pitches to the presumed chagrin of skipper Terry Collins. Collins said Wednesday that he could use Wheeler as a reliever for a few weeks at the end of the season in order to limit his innings. Wheeler is at 119 1/3 total frames this year (including 50 2/3 in the majors). He sits at 4-2 with a 3.73 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 41/28 K/BB rate.
Adams smacks two-run homer in victory 08-04-2013
Matt Adams 1B STL
Matt Adams smacked a two-run homer off Reds' starter Mike Leake in Sunday's blowout win. Adams finished 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Now that St. Louis' offense is mostly healthy -- with catcher Yadier Molina an obvious exemption -- Adams has seen his playing time cut again. With a nice .287 /.347/.489 slash line over 68 games, Adams can still contribute in NL-only formats.

David Freese 3B LAA
David Freese finished 3-for-4 with a double, home run, two RBI and three runs scored as the Cardinals blasted the Reds 15-2 on Sunday. Freese's modest five-game hitting streak has pushed his batting average to .273, nice to see after he finished July in a 2-for-23 (.087) slump over eight games. Freese's .395 slugging percentage sits well below his .431 career average, but we're encouraged by the fact that the veteran third baseman has smacked extra-base hits in four straight games.

Lynn has registered three consecutive quality starts, surrendering just four runs over 21 innings. At 13-5 with a 3.78 ERA, he remains a must-start fantasy hurler.
Leake blasted for 7 runs by Cardinals in loss 08-04-2013
Mike Leake P CIN
Mike Leake was shelled for seven runs on eight hits over five innings Sunday in a loss to the Cardinals. Leake showed up to the park without his good stuff, walking two and striking out three. To Leake's credit, it seemed as though no pitcher in baseball could have solved St. Louis' offense this afternoon. After Leake was yanked at just 76 pitches, the Reds' bullpen surrendered eight runs over just four innings. Collectively, the Cincinnati staff required 160 pitches to escape nine innings. Coming off seven shutout frames against the Padres on Monday, it was a disappointing afternoon for Leake, who dropped to 10-5 with a 2.94 ERA and 1.20 WHIP.

Shi Davidi on Twitter
Manager John Gibbons said less than a week ago that he didn't expect to see either pitcher this season, but Anthopoulos isn't ruling it out. Drabek holds a 2.55 ERA and 23/4 K/BB ratio over 24 2/3 rehab innings as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery, while Hutchinson has a 3.00 mark and 15/7 K/BB ratio over 12 frames in his recovery from the same procedure.
